1999 Grand Cherokee V8 Transfer Case Issues.....HELP!
I need help, or some advice RE a transfer case / Trans issue. Lots of gear whine-noise comming from the Transfer case, filler plug hex looks very stripped. 120K miles and not sure when it was ever changed or re filled. Lots of what looks like ATF (reddish light viscosity fluid) at the back of the transfer case & on the u-joint. Similar oil on the front of the Trans. Pan.....
What to do?? Replace Trans case and hope its not the trans too??
Any one know of sources for rebuilt or salvage Trans or Transfer Cases in Northern California?
HELP!!! Please!!!!!!

Whoa, slow down for a minute Minnie. First, check or have someone check the oil level in the tcase. If it is down, put some in and see if the noise goes away. I take it you have full time 4WD. If the noise calms down and a seal is gone, like maybe the rear shaft seal, just have that replaced. That is a lot cheaper than a rebuilt case. There are vendors that have rebuilt tcases, but that would be premature at this point.
Hi i was wondering do you know where the vacume line coming off the front transfer case(pumpkin) goes to under the hood around the air filter box area? Its just sitting there and i cant find where it goes. its a 1993 grand wagoneer 5.2L Auto trans
