1998 Jeep Grand Cherokee straight 6
What could cause engine to rev up when traveling 50mph or more? It revs up only for a few seconds, but it may do it several times back to back.

pressing the gas would cause it to rev up
just messing with you, if it revs up a bit then goes back to normal, could be a TPS. had a similar problem on my dads hyundai, it would rev up to 3-4,000 rpm (luckily it only went to 4k when it was in park) then it would go down to around 500 rpm and sometimes stall out. replaced TPS and it was good as new.
