1998 Grand Cherokee Limited Transmission Problem ....
Looking at a 1998 Grand Cherokee with a Transmission issue and need some assistance.
SYMPTON: No first gear start when in Drive. I can manually put the vehicle in First Gear to start off and then shift up into Drive for 2nd/3rd/ ....
My first search led me to the " governor pressure switch ".
Other than that is there anything else for this specific problem and how can I further diagnose?

Engine: 4.0 with all of the noise and clatter
I'm no transmission expert, but I think governor pressure is more for upshifting. You could have a bad shift solenoid that is causing the issue. Not a cheap fix, but better than a complete rebuild.
