I drove out and am 200 miles from home. Last night I drove around and after an hour's drive, I couldn't lock the car with the keyless remote. I locked the Jeep manually but when it was time to go I could unlock the doors only with the real key, of course the immobilizer activated in the meantime.

I cannot start the Jeep. I work on saturday and I am just clueless.

I tried replacing the batteries of the remote but that didn't work. What can I do? If only I could start it to get back home and go to the dealer! The user manual talks about radio interferences that could disable the keyless remote, is this true? I never parked in this area before so there is a possibility... but that does seem a little farfetched...

Has anybody managed to bypass this security feature??

But it turns out that it was just an interference issue...

Believe it or not, I asked a neighbor to help me tow the GC out of its parking spot to another place to test this interference issue the owner's manual talks about...

And bam, 800 meters away in another part of town, we tried the remote and it worked, the immobilizer was disabled!!!

This is a pretty crazy story, where it was parked there are no known sources of interference so everyone is pretty stumped as to why this happened!!

But yeah, next time, check your remote's effectiveness when parking in a new spot before turning the engine off!! If your doors don't cycle after pressing unlock, find another spot and try again!!
