1997 Grand Ckerokee, cranking but no starting until I turn the key on and off 4 times
Hey everyone, I'm new to posting but have enjoyed all the threads. I have a 1997 G.C. 5.2 engine, after it sets over night I have to cycle the key on and off 4 to 5 times before it starts, here is what I’ve done, new fuel pump, now ignition switch, last year new wires cap rotor, cam/crank sensor. Once it starts it good all day. I hope someone can help.
thanks
Mike

Try chaning your Fuel Filter. If not, check your fuel pressure, and if that checks out, possible weak Fuel Pump. Good luck bud.

Thanks Bud,
The fuel filter is on the fuel pump. that is new. Also I can not find the port to check fuel pressure, everyone say iy is on the driver side and it looks like a tire valve, but I can not see one.

And if i remember correctly.... This does not have a fuel filter, or it is located in the fuel pump its self. So that will not be the issue here.

I will go nack and post a pic of my jeeps. This pic is off the forum. I have same jeep. I have only had tranny issues with it which turned out to be a speed sensor. But I do know its on the drivers sideoff the drivers side. Cant imagine someone removing it....

I know it sounds crazy, but it is not there. I went out today and sprayed it with starting fuild, it fired right up so this is telling me im losing fuel pressure, so the question is now is how can you tell what injector is leaking?????? there are no leaks anywhere that I can see.

Richmond910,
Could be your Fuel pump relay switch. Also you could have severe vacuum lock. This sounds strange, but unplug one of the smaller vacuum hoses in the morning, and see if it starts up. Do this on the first crank. It also could be a failing distributor. If the spark isn't going to all the cylanders, you may not be geting the combustion needed to start.

Hey 94Crawler
I will check the vacume in the morning. Thanks good idea....
Bustedback
I'm thinking the same thing, I took off the drivers side rail with the injectors attached and let then set out for 2 hrs, not a drip, I could not get the other side off because of the throttle linkage was in the way and I did not have a gasket to take it off. If the vacume does not work the 94Crawler said I will do that. and swap the relay
thanks

I took off a vacume line and it did not help, I also changed the relay and that did not help. So I cycled 4 times and it started......Still searching
