1996 Grand Cherokee ZJ - Strange Transmission Issues
Hello everyone! I have a 1996 Jeep Grand Cherokee with 128,000 miles. I have never had problems with the trans and I have frequently changed the trans fluid since the day I bought it brand new. Today, while I was driving (in about 95 degree weather if that matters🤷♂️) the transmission started shifting hard very in between all gears. It also would miss third gear and would go straight from 2nd to 4th. When I was accelerating, I would get to about 30 mph and then I would have to push the gas pedal all the way to the floor and it would take about 20-25 seconds before it would do anything and then it would jump to fourth gear and sit at about 3000-4000 RPM for 20 seconds and then it would finally take overdrive and drive normally. After 30 minutes of driving I finally got to my destination and I left it sitting for about four hours and then when I went to drive home it ran totally normal no problems at all. does anyone have any ideas on what is wrong or what I should do? I know these transmissions aren’t great, but why would I have these issues and now it’s running perfectly fine like it never happened? Also, I did check the transmission fluid and it is in the center of the okay zone and it is not burnt at all. Thanks in advance!😃
