Default 1996 Gran cherokee 171 code

I have a 1996 Grand Cherokee that that throws a 171 code "lean"gas code.

I never get any other codes, this usually happens when it's hot. I get a real rough running engine when this happens..after a couple of minutes its smooths out and is fine.

any thoughts?

what is the best replacement brand -- whole unity replacement.

I saw a video -- replacement looked messy but doable.

An original Mopar pump would be best. Stay away from Airtex, they're junk. Stay away from any pump that was made in China ....if you can, that is.

Just a quick follow-up -- used the MOPAR pump and a new filter.

1 week -- no code 171! runs MUCH better, has a real jump when you hit the gas. I think better mileage too -- but didn't have a before / after measurement.

Bustedback -- thanks for the help on this!
