I just purchased a 1995 Grand Cherokee with the 5.2 and the AWD system. The coupling in the np249 transfer case is out, so im planning on swapping in a np242 case. My question is which year transfer case would fit? I know I will probably have to change the input shaft, but what about the annulus gears? From what I've read the gears were changed late 1994, and my case is dated 7/94, so is there any way to tell which type I have without taking the case out and splitting it? Is there anything else I need to look for to make this swap happen?
