1994 Jeep Grand Cherokee Limited Security Alarm Issues
I have a 1994 Jeep Grand Cherokee Limited and I am having issues with the factory alarm system. I recently had a complete transmission rebuild and also had the battery cable plugs replaced. Ever since then the alarm will go off randomly (lights flashing and alarm sounding). Sometimes a few minutes after I lock it with my keyless entry fob, sometimes when I attempt to unlock it with the keyless entry fob. When the alarm goes off and I hit the unlock button on my key fob 2 or 3 times the alarm goes off. Starting the Jeep is never affected and it runs fine. My keyless entry is inconsistent to begin with and I have to be right next to the jeep to lock/unlock. I had the place that did my transmission rebuild use a scanner of some sort to do a factory reset. I have also pulled the #6 fuse which is said to control the security alarm system. Neither of these things have worked. Is there any way to disable the factory security alarm system so that it no longer works/is functional and I can lock/unlock my Jeep without the alarm going off? I would still like to have use of the keyless entry if possible. If I buy an aftermarket keyless entry/security system could this fix the issue? Any help would be much appreciated!

I dont think there is a way to "fix" the stock alarm. However with extras you can do an aftermarket alarm...those extras being lock actuators...which will cost $20 each or so...plus install.
My mom had a 95 GC, same thing... alarm would go off driving. A coworkers also had a 95 GC and hers would kill the engine while driving when the alarm went off...
I think your best bet is to just find the thread about rewiring and disabling the alarm. Sorry don't have the link, but you basically get a couple connectors, hook them up to wires in the driver door and then find a place to ground it.
.... you're going to have to live with using your key or spend a bunch of money to replace it
