Default 1994 4.0 starting issue

Started my Jeep today to and drove it less than a 1/4 mile to help a friend, shut it off for about 2.5 hours. Went to start it back up, only got a click and no turnover.

All of my dash lights come on, they're bright, battery is holding 12.4v.

Checked fuses and starter relay, all good. Cleaned battery terminals. Still getting just a click.

I even tried "jumping" the starter solenoid terminals with a screwdriver, didnt even get a spark.

Im hoping its just the starter, but I've also heard that the alarm systems in these are problematic, I've never used it, never armed it, or done anything with it.

I tried turning the key in the back door twice, still nothing.

What does the battery voltage drop to while cranking? I bet you need a battery.

Bustedback, didn't think to check that. I'll check and report back tomorrow evening.

Twist your cables. you have corrosion between the lug and terminal. If you do this after dark, you will see a spark.

Got it figured out. Battery had a dead cell and the cables were full of corrosion. New battery and new cables and shes back on the road. Thanks for the replies everyone.
