Default 01 GC belt tension... how to

Hey guys sorry if this is the incorrect section to be posting in, mods can move this is need-be, but I need to know how to replace the serpentine belt on a 2001 Grand cherokee laredo with a 4.0 I6. You guys are the jeep experts so I came here to ask for your help. I read around and you guys all messed with the power steering mounts but mine is unlike the pictures I have seen and on the diagram it shows it being under the alternator. It is a female star piece on the tension pully which is unlike anything I have seen on another vehicle! Thanks you for taking the time to read into my problem.

Well, you ARE in the wrong section. It should be in Grand Cherokee Tech. No problem, Im sure someone can move it for you. I dont have a GC, but im sure someone on here that does can help you, especially once its moved to the right section.

If its like my '97 ZJ 4.0 the tension pully is under the power steering pump on the driver side. Loosen the bolt on the front of the pully then there's a long bolt under the pully that it "rides on". If you loosen the bolt it should move the pully twards the engine, loosening the belt. Then just thread the belt off (make sure to study the belt route to put it back on correctly). Reverse order to reinstall.

Good Luck!
