Hello. I am new to this forum, but lets get to the point. I need help, I got into doing some light off roading and reading alot about lifting jeep cherokees. First off i could not do any of the work by my self and i dont know if i could trust any of my mechanic friends. I want to put a 3.5 or 4.5 inch lift but i am getting confused a bit. First off i thought ooohhh that wont be to hard then i started reading, and found that i am going to need a SYE and adjust all these angles and stuff I don't know any one who could do that or at least try. So i guess i am asking is there a shop that could do any of that around northeast ohio or any suggestions for help on this type of work?

I run a 4.5 in rc lift and no sye. No problems here but it is recommended for anything over 3 in. I did my lift by myself and it was a first time thing also. Not to difficult with the proper tools. A lift would make it easier tho.

dont be scared of doing the SYE. i did my first lift and that was what scared me the most. now i am mechanically inclined to a dagree so that helps a little. but this site is what i used and there are tons of other write up on doing them with more pictures.http://www.stu-offroad.com/engine/sye/sye-1.htm. as far as the angles go all you have to do is adjust your rear angle just pick up a cheap magnetic angle finder at lowes or somewhere. again found in the site http://www.stu-offroad.com/axle/pinion/pinion-1.htm theres tons of info there however most is for the wranglers but the SYE and drivline angles still apply the same way. plus your kit should come with instructions with pictures just take your time get a friend to help too. hope this helps.

honestly an SYE is a great thing to have... but not necessarily a need for only a 3-4.5 in lift... i have a 4 in lift on my jeep and i run 31's just fine without an SYE and take it off road quite a bit.
