To start off, I hope everyone had a happy Easter and all went well.
Being that it was a family holiday weekend I did not get alot done on the old girl, However I did manage to finish up the tire carrier.
I am now kind of stuck on how to finish the rear end of the XJ.
I dont mind leaving it as is, and having either side along the tire just left open. I think it looks pretty good, however that does make the little bit of available bed space useless.
My original plan was to tube the area so I could attach my bike mounts from there up to the back of my roof rack, basically putting the bikes at a 45*. Alot easier to get them down than if they were up on the roof. And I think that is still my plan.
I just dont know how I want to approach it at the moment.
I could fill the space by either mounting the frames to the swingout, but then the racks would have to come off/ on if it needed to swing.
Or to weld them into the body and have them stay stationary, I think this is the way I will do it.

It has been awhile since the last update, been crazy busy at work and have not had a day off in over a month so its been hard to get anything done.
But finally yesterday I had some time, so I got the bed all finished up so Now I can move on to the rear frame stiffeners.
Here are the progress pics.
Formed and welded some plates to the bed floor to dispurse the stress better.

Man has it been a crazy hectic late spring/summer.
I was not able to get much done the rig the last couple months , but I have worked on it the last couple of Saturdays and have been able to get all of my frame stiffeners on. The rears I built myself what a pita that was, the centers are JCR, the fronts are IRO I went with what I was able to go buy from local private sellers.
This thread should pick up alot now I am back to this project every week, I plan to have it 90 percent done by the end of August so I can get some trail runs in before the end of the season here. And I need it for the winter.
So stay tuned!

I was able to get my sliders knocked out on saturday.
I will be fabbing up a side rocker protector and weld them on, but I dont want the traditional tube like everything else, so more to come on that aspect.
While deciding I will probably get started on my hidden winch front bumper.
Anyway more on the sliders, they are a mix of what is out on the market, I added the flat bar pinch weld attachment point over the wider tube mainly because I wanted mine to match the body front to rear, any slider that has the tube bolted right to the pinch weld stick out wider in the front than the rear.
As you can notice in the pics the flat bar is at an angle, Also my plates at the uni are drilled and tapped through the frame stiffeners/uni, plenty of meat there to do it right.
They are... 2" X 2" X 3/16" square tube, with 1" X 2" X 1/8" legs, with 1" X 1/4" flat bar pinch weld attachment, with 3" X 5" X 1/4" feet.
Pics.

The slash cuts on the end are at a 40*, also you can notice the front legs are welded 1/4" down from the top of the foot, and the rears are centered on the foot to accomodate the difference in the uni drop.
The sliders are also tight to the bottom of the body, you can kind of see it in this first picture.

I was able to decide on what I wanted to do to finish off my sliders. And I would have to say that they absolutely are different than any I have seen before.
I also got started on my front bumper, got the front crossmember/radiator support cut out, and my brackets cut and bolted on.

Not much. Just a little progress on the front bumper.
In the pic the bull bar seem to jump out at you, not sure why. It is not so in your face in person.
Anyway....trying to decide if I like it or not.
What do YOU think????

I don't like stingers in general, so it would be a hard sale to convince me on it. That one isn't great though. You have done some great work on the jeep so far. I don't mean to insult you.
