Whelp... Here we go again, lol.

Had to sell the RHD, so on to the next one!

'92 Sport
4.0/AX15/NP231

It runs great. Its a 5spd. The AC works. Its got manual windows/locks. So thats the good news.

But everything you can see with your eyeballs... is pretty damn ugly, lol. Took a whack to the front right, the paint is beyond dead, carpet and front seats have seen better days, tires are toast, etc etc. So ive got my work cut out for me.

In no hurry on this one, just gonna go through it bit by bit and make a nice driver/weekend toy. We'll see, lol.

A lack of good available used header panels led me to purchase this one off Amazon. It's kinda meh. It'll do for now at least, if i find a good used one later i may replace it. We'll see how it looks after some tweaking/adjusting, and everything is painted.

After running 33s & 31s, these 30x9.5s look tiny, lol. If they grow on me, cool. If not ill regear and go bigger... and so it begins.

Had a nightmare of a time changing out the rear shackles.

But finally got that done, threw in some BPEs and ES9000s out back. Bit by bit.

Current state. She's slowly getting there, lol. I've had a slew of jeeps with different kinds of aftermarket wheels... but never the classic, basic D-windows. So those are in her near future. They'll be painted to match the XJ though, right now im really leaning towards '18 Wrangler "Gobi" color.

Bumper is on order, gonna be starting on the bodywork shortly.

LOL i meant to PM you, mustve forgotten man. Not sure if any other versions of the RHD(postal, etc) are different, but the cables were the same on mine as the LHD. Battery, starter, etc all in the usual location.

Thanks man. Hell yeah, no airbags, auto trans, power windows, locks, seats or mirrors. Bare bones stripper jeep.

Love it!

cleenrob 09-09-2018 07:30 PM

4BangerDanger 09-09-2018 08:02 PM

Nice work. What is your process when painting? I will be eventually painting mine and I've never painted a car before. Yours looks great!

TwistedWrench 09-09-2018 08:40 PM

Thanks guys, im pretty stoked at how she's coming together.

My process? Lol, well compared to my usual paintjobs...
https://cimg5.ibsrv.net/gimg/www.che...2358174ee5.jpg

...this one is a walk in the park!

Bang out the major dents, finish with glaze. DA the crap out of it with 220, then 320, then 400. Tight-sand anywhere the DA cant get.
https://cimg1.ibsrv.net/gimg/www.che...b92c6ad803.jpg

Wash it. Wash it again. Wash it one more time. Once its 100% spotlessly clean, wash it again. Hose out the bay(paintbooth is occupied).
https://cimg4.ibsrv.net/gimg/www.che...871c3620d3.jpg
Letting her drip dry overnight, paint going down in the morning!

Tuck 14ga wire under the rubber window moldings(creates a gap for the paint to get behind the rubber, prevents tapelines). Backtape the jambs, wipe it down with prekleeno. Plastic of what im not painting. Wipe it down with tack rags.

Its a jeep, gonna do jeep things in it, so just a single stage paint.

Dust coat.

2 wet coats.

When its all done, colorsand and buff the hood, other high-vis areas. Later as i get bored enough, i can go back and rework some of the little dings i didnt feel like ****ing with right now, lol.
