Building it for drag racing, but keeping it 4x4. I don't really want to strip the interior for weight savings either. When I eventually get in the dyno, I'll post the results.

did the factory harness plug into the GM coils or did you need to splice plugs? also what did you do for the distributor mounting location? block it off with something? would like more info on how you wired everything up, also cool fuel rail, i dont have the skills or the motivation to build my own so i will probably stick with the stock one as long as i can still flow enough through it. im only looking for 10-12 psi of boost from a g20 or hx35

Default Update Time

It is time for an update. I've been busy with other projects for the last few months, but I've kept things progressing on my new motor build in the background. Like I said previously, it will be a 3" stroke, low compression motor, with forged internals. I had the head ported and upgraded with LS valvetrain components.I have also been messing with a new manifold setup both for the exhaust and intake. The new exhaust manifold will be a true twin scroll setup, with two wastegates, feeding a divided t3 or t4 turbine housing(haven't decided yet). The intake manifold is a clifford short runner carburetor manifold that will be modified for fuel injection, with a 102mm LS style throttle body. I'm hoping to have the motor done in another month. Most of my free time lately has been taken up by two other car builds, one of which is my 2JZ Cherokee drag truck, which I will begin a build thread on shortly.

And now some ****

Sorry for the late response, It's been a while since I've been on the forums. The harness in my truck is heavily modified, it was originally a distributor motor, but I used the distributor wiring for the 2000+ cam sensor. The coils are driven by a bit of harness that I added, as the factory harness does not have the provisions to drive six coils. The distributor hole is occupied by the cam sensor, you can see this in the picture I've attached.. The factory fuel rail isn't as much of an issue as the fuel lines and pump are, and for 10psi, you will want to upgrade to a bigger fuel pump at the least.

Beautiful work and thanks for the build thread. When kids ask about turboing these motors, this is a good thread to point them to and say, "THIS is what it takes!".

Anymore on your 2JZ Cherokee or the 4.0L?

Did you get to dyno either yet?

Just got my Edelbrock head and Clifford manifold back from Russ Pottenger, they look great and the ports are perfect. The head also has bigger valves from a GM LS. It is worth noting that while the aluminum head was off my motor, I did dyno the truck with a stock head on, just to see what it would do. Valve float kept the engine from revving over 4900rpm, this is due to running the stock springs with the upgraded cam, and the effect is worsened with increased boost. The dyno results were 354whp / 375ft. lbs. @ 14psi of boost
