Took the plunge, My first Jeep.
So for years I have wanted a XJ but have always had hot rods for daily drivers other then my lifted subaru I had. Thats what really got me hooked a few years back with offroading. That car is long gone and now lives on the east coast.
This is Rowdy, my 88' XJ. Currently she has over 200K but since the speedometer didn't work when I bought her I really am not sure. I picked it up for $700 and proceeded to go through a gallon of P/S fluid in the first day of ownership.
The night I brought her home, then got to work swapping clusters.
Few days later I changed out the bad engine mounts.
Last weekend I fixed the P/S leak by replacing the box, lines, and pump since they where all leaking. Then today I picked up a used steering settup off a tj to replace my originals that where really bad.
Thanks basically where I am currently. I have removed a LOT of wiring hacks in search of lighting issues that I think is the multifunction switch so that will be replaced next week.
Really looking forward to doing a 3inch lift and some new 31x10.5's then adding a locker for the back but that will have to wait until I also fix the problems with the interior. Seats are toast, one rust whole that I will be fixing soon, as well as doing a custom stereo and setting it up for camping/expedition trips.

Thanks, yea I am really excited to see where this build ends up.
Here are a few links to previous cars I have owned and built up a little here and there.

Then this one, it was the very first car I ever worked on. When I was 7years old my grandfather had me help him install the engine into it. Currently I just finished another engine swap on it and saving money away for more front suspension work.

Yesterday I swapped out my track back for a used one off a TJ. In doing so it got rid of the rest of the loose steering, wandering, and pulling.
Today I was able to fix a few more wiring issues the previous owner "fixed" before. I think I pulled out another 100ft of wiring again. Also I found out where the water leaks are, which again are from the previous owner, and was able to fix them to get me by until saturday when the wife and I are hitting some wrecking yards and the missing rubber plugs have been added to the list to grab then.
Also posed my supermoto with the jeep since I ran it up and down the block so she will be ready for the next few days commuting to work since its not raining anymore. You can also spot my bug in the background as well.

I guess it's time for a update since I have been going a little crazy on it. Since the last update I've done a ax15 swap after blowing up my ba10. So once drivable again I had to see how it did with the lower first gear.
Then a few weeks ago I found a PDF of the bumper brackets and decided to build my own front bumper.
Which by the way are complete crap because the whole spacing was off by more then 3/8's on a few wholes. Any ways after a few late nights after work and skipped lunches here is where the bumper is currently.
Wednesday I will stay late at work and use our paint booth to shoot it in flat black enamel.
Also swapped out the orignal stubby consol.

So yesterday I wanted to wire in the dome lite from the sound bar I installed a few weeks back when I per in my complete stereo. When I yanked the headliner I saw that there isn't any insulation. So last night I swing by home depot and got some Quick-Seal and stuck it on this morning. Using a Db meter app I saw a 4.8Db drop on the highway and it's noticeably warmer since its 24degrees today.
THats ice on the roof by the way.
Roof covered.
Nearly back together.
Now in a few weeks I will yank what's left of my carpet, repair the rust, lay on more of this insulation as well as a 1/4 thick carpet backer then install my new carpet I bought last night.

Bumper is finished and powder coated. Ordering some new parts as well. O2 sensor, all new brake hoses, thermostat and gasket, fan clutch, projector retrofit with 4300k bulbs. Also thinking of ordering a led light bar.
Picked up a used set of BFG a/t's this afternoon and now I just need to decide what wheels I want to replace the ugly and rusted junk that's on there now.

Few more angles I snapped today while the jeep is down. Need to order a new thermostat, clutch fan, all new brake hoses, O2 sensor, fuel/air filters, and cap/rotor.
Still need to cap the fenders where I cut them. Also a snap of my tires I picked up last weekend. I'm waiting for my 30's to die maybe around spring to swap these on. Hopefully by then I'll have a set of ravines, shadows, or tj rubicons.
Just 31x10.50's but look huge next to my 30x9.50's

Thank you, and here is more progress. The rear floor pan had a small rust whole I noticed while swapping transmissions. Well it was worse then I originally thought.
Showing what I cut out compared to my patch pannel I cut out of a jeep at a wrecking yard.
Cut to size.
Last break of the day at work I wheeled this guy outside and tacked in the new pannel.
Now running a bead between tacks
Another small whole patched.
All finished and coated with paint and seam sealer.
And a quick pose on the way home from work.
