That would be AWESOME if this thread had more short posts so it would add another page. It's getting really long with all these picture-heavy build posts. I still have more to post and more to do!

Dude, yeah, it was so sketchy driving on that before I realized what happened. Why is my rear driver side so low and bouncy? Oh, holy ****!!

Car Computer
I installed a computer in the XJ for a number of reasons. It serves as a music player, GPS interface, OBD-II scanner, can do future things like DAQ for strain gauges on the body and mainly because I love computers. I started by relocating the aftermarket head unit to the center console to free up dash room for the touch screen LCD display.
Cut the console and Bondo'd in the head unit mounts:
(and didn't take a completed picture)
Trimmed the area where the factory stereo was and Bondo/Epoxied in the screen:
Installed, playing music in the foreground and Topo USA 6 running in the background (which has a 3-D topo map interface where Winamp is covering).
WINAMP: It really whips the llama's a$$.
The actual computer has been mounted in a variety of locations, but it's currently here:
Dual Core Athlon X2
1GB RAM
32GB SATA SSD
The solid state drive is so fast! This thing boots up Windows XP before I leave my driveway! The Garmin 18x usually gets a GPS fix about that fast, too.

You said you've had this for more than 10 years; did you buy it new?
Anyone who builds custom parts, welds in their apartment parking lot, and owns a single vehicle for more than a decade is cool in my book. Keep it up dude.

Thanks! I can't wait to do more!
I've definitely been concerned about leaks, but it hasn't been an issue yet. I'm thinking about removing the passenger air bag and putting the computer, stereo and CB there. Anyone know if the driver airbag still works if you remove the passenger? I presume they would be connected in parallel and it should work.
I got it 3 years old from a dude who put a 3" lift on it and never took it on a trail, it was in great condition. Thanks man, will do!
