SDZ's "more of a cleanup and improvement than a build" build.
Ok, so my 1994 GC that I bought in October was totalled because the repair shop failed to tighten my lug nuts. So, i got a 1997 Grand Cherokee Laredo yesterday.
It had a cracked header panel and broken driver's side headlight. Luckily I had my 94 for parts so I began swapping stuff over.
Here are the pics of the work so far.
Changed out the faded broken bumper cover for my "bed armor" sprayed cover. Installed new "chinese" replacement headlights and turnsignals.

My awesome girlfriend cleaned up the inside while I was swapping the front end parts

She also brillo padded the rims....they were covered with a horrible amount of brake dust that normal washing wouldnt remove.

I swapped rear covers as well.

What the hell is the rear bumper reinforcement made out of? The rest of this Jeep is in good condition and this part was rotted off the truck!

Next tasks:
31 inchers for winter
Radio and speaker swap
Fix the horn and interior lights. None of them work?!??!?!?
Do it yourself conduit roof rack
I know its boring, but its mine and I had alot of fun today.

Not that many of you have read this, but if you do, maybe you could help me with a couple problems.
1. Every domelight is not working. I checked the fuse box in my passengers side kick panel and didnt even see a fuse for them.
2. Horn doesnt work. I checked the underhood fuse box and the 20 amp maxi fuse is good. I swapped the horn relay for another one from the a/c clutch (same relay). All i hear is the relay clicking.
If you have any ideas, please let me know. I hate not having lights in there.

Well I got my GC running even better with new plugs, wires and an air filter.
My first refill of the tank gave me 18.7 mpg. I am happy with that. My old 94 was getting 15-16 mpg.

Nice rig man. Kinda sounds crazy but it could be possible u got alot of bulbs out. Do u got an owners manual for it?? Id pick one up or try googling the location on the fuses. Good luck man!
I have the haynes. It is about as useful as a fart in church.
I checked the radio and cigarette lighter fuses......still deal. i even swapped the lights from my 94 overhead console. still nothing. It sucks not seeing anything at night.
