Rinkor's 1991 XJ
I've lurked around on this forum for a while now so I figured it's time to finally post up a build.
Back in 2006 I bought a '91 Cherokee for $3400, which still is my first car. It was extremely clean and had 80,000 miles on it. I originally wanted to buy a TJ but it was out of my budget. I settled for the Cherokee and fell in love immediately. I still remember getting in it for the first time and trying to figure out how to turn the head lights on haha.
After 2 years (I paid off the loan) and I had been wheeling a few times. I decided it was finally time to throw some money at her, so I bought a lift. This was a HUGE learning curve. I had never done anything like this before so it was an amazing learning experience. After some busted knuckles and a sore back I had it installed. This photo is right after I finished the install which was a very proud moment (Sorry for the ****ty cell phone picture).
I ended up buying a Rough Country 4.5" lift, 33" KM2's and a set of Soft 8's. I cut off the fenders, swapped the front axle and slapped some bedliner on.
I fancied up the interior as well.
Here's a few pictures of her first time out wheeling at Cow Mountain with the lift.
This picture is a little sad to me since both my buddies sold their rigs.
Took her up to Yosemite as well.
Since then I've swapped 2 front axles. First one had the ****ty vacuum system so that had to go. The 2nd one was bent by half a degree and the knuckles were drilled out out for a different steering set up. I had a set of fillers that went in the holes to use a standard set up which worked fine for a while. But one day I was driving home and one of the speed bumps in my apartment complex ripped the tie rod out of the knuckle. She then sat for a few months and didn't move. Finally I swapped a Dana 30 in and had her moving again. Immediately after I got a killer deal on a Chrysler 8.25 from a buddy. I traded him my Dana 35 for a Chrysler 8.25 29 Spline. I also added diff covers and hood vents.

Then about a year ago I got into a car accident and the build came to a halt for quite a while. This is what I did to their car.
The rig drove away with a very minor injury.
This set me back pretty far and which is why I haven't done much to the rig. I was planning on using my tax return this year to buy a welder and fab up some bumpers. But I decided to be responsible and invest the money instead haha. Do I dare say that here? Over the past few months she's been through a lot. The ignition switch melted and wouldn't turn, which was about as much fun that you can have with your clothes on. Someone also broke my driver side window and stole my stereo and sub. The most irritating part about that? They stole my sunglasses too. This week I decided the engine bay needed a bath since I had some green growing. Cleaned it up with some Simple Green and a tooth brush.
A new battery, starter, brake cylinders, pads, fresh bed liner and a tire rotation later she's running stronger than ever. I absolutely love this Jeep.
In a few weeks here I'm buying a house so I'll finally have an open space to work on the rig. This is how she sits today.
