Because of time limitations on the proposed lift day, and because this is my DD, something my wife drives, etc. I paid Spyder Off Road/Silver Star Customs to do the SYE.

I know I missed a learning experience, but couldn't risk messing it up. I'll learn on another one later, or by watching others do a few. Most guys swear it's not hard, but what is if you've done it a hundred times? Nothing. But the first time? Yeah, could be tense.

Thank you for the compliments everyone

Tried to re-install the receiver hitch today. All 4 on the DS lined up, but only 2 on the PS would line up. Was missing one on each side so had to go buy replacements. Finding a lot of loose bolts and nuts that needed tightening.

Bought a 41mm wrench exclusively for checking and re-tightening the jam nuts on the adjustable arms - they should be checked regularly.

Bought the appropriate wrenches for the trac bar and tie rod too.

Horrible metal to metal impact noise from the rear on light bumps that I haven't tracked down.

Severe whine between 10 and 25 mph - don't know what's making it, but it feeds back through the steering wheel, the shifter, the floor, and t-case selector.

Front center caps get pretty warm, but the back ones don't - not sure what's doing that.

New rear drive shaft should be in later today, need to install it, the tranny cooler, paint the bumper, go to the dentist, and celebrate my birthday.

Still trying to find someone local who knows XJ's pretty well to look this over and help me make sure it's safe/nothing was missed.

Really glad the lift is on. Now just need to checklist the XJ, finish up, and gear up for the fall run.

The garage that did the SYE is going to look at it, see where it's leaking from, check that the metal stud was cut down to the correct 1 inch length as that would prevent it from being able to engage 4LO.

The inside of the Logans front bumper was finished Thursday. 3 coats of primer and 3 coats of paint. I hope to finish the outside of it Monday and get it mounted. Then need to do the tranny cooler and the steering box brace

Wish me luck!

I"m also trying to find information on correctly mounting a firestick to the Logans front bumper, and good instructions on replacing the headliner. EDIT- I'm also looking for good instructions on changing differential gear oil for the Chrysler rear and the Dana 30 front so I can put the lube lockers on and the diff guard on.

Here's our XJ on it's first and so far only trail ride...

sorry you didn't have as much fun as expected. I've been on these rides for the last couple of years and this is the biggest one yet. There were so many folks there that a lot of people got lost in the crowd. I'm still seeing pictures of people I would have talked to if I had actually seen them in person.

As far as fitting in, give it time. It took us almost 2 years to find our spot in the pack. We joined in 2008 and nobody had a clue who we were until we bought the ZJ last year. In the meantime, if you need something be the mouse that roars... and keep roaring until someobdy listens.

Again, sorry you got lost in the shuffle. You seem like a pretty cool guy to hang with happy belated birthday! Nobody brought up BJ's either until I posted it. I think a lot of people don't even look to see who's birthday it is. Most of them go by unnoticed and unmentioned.
