Actually, I'm pleasantly surprised that it didn't start doing this years ago. Still, it requires repair. A few MSJ members have offered to help replace the oil pan gasket and the rear main seal once I am able to buy the new ones.

The Rusty's stuff is SOLID!

One of the guys in MSJ had almost the exact same kit on his TJ (6.5" high clearance long arm) and he literally beat the hell out of it - no damage to the lift components.

I say "had" because he is completely reworking his TJ into a fierce off road vehicle with different axles, and just about everything else.

I would just be very attentive to what you order vs. what actually arrives.

Check off each and every thing that arrives against a list of what you actually ordered.

Since our club's fall run is rapidly approaching (where the hell did this year go?) I'm either going to repair it by the end of September or wait until the end of October.

That's going to depend heavily on my job situation. I really want to make it, especially because of where this year's fall run is going to be. I just can't predict whether I will be able to go or not yet.

I'm not 100% sure, but from what I understand 1997-2001 doors are the same.

You may try calling a body shop and see what they say (you could imply bringing it to them to do, just that you want to see if you can find a door yourself), etc.

Let me know if you find out something definite - would be good to know!

Default Gasket and Seal Recommendations

We're going to replace the oil pan gasket and the rear main seal (engine) on the XJ.

Gasket prices range from over $50 (Landers Jeep) to $19 (Autozone)

Rear Main Seal prices are averaging $10 higher.

Obviously, I don't want to put the "el cheapo- gonna leak in a year" brand on there. Once I get the ladder bars, sliders, and rear bumper it will be off roading up to a level 3. I don't have a ton of $ to pour into this (or else I'd be adding an armored oil pan) but don't want to screw it up trying to save a buck.

Any brands to avoid?

Any brands you recommend?

Rear main seal > Stealership (slightly more expensive)
Oil pan gasket > Felpro, period.

Got the felpro gasket for the oil pan and the valve cover. Going to try to get everything done as soon as I can.
