This past Wednesday my Transfer Case decided to commit suicide and something grenade inside it. Huge hole in it and cracked the case all the way around. Also lost my rear drive shaft. And ruined the rear diff yolk. All of this happened at about 60 mph.

 

Yesterday a friend from the MD thread, Jakbob, and I swapped a new case in. But before that xjclassicxj from the MD thread helped me install an SYE in the new case. Now everything is nearly finished, just need to put my drive shaft in and test it out.

 

What a huge difference an SYE makes. The ride is so smooth now. I cant believe it. Im so used to vibs from the past 6 months. Lol.

My check engine light is on too. Went to advance auto and its because my speedo isnt working. The plugs on my TC's were different so i have to swap them soon.

Currently going through the death of the GFs grandmom, college full time, and work. TC was a rush thing and didnt stop for any progress pics. Needed it done ASAP. Part of why i dont have a front DS right now. Lol.

The jeep has taken a turn for the worst. I can no longer deal with daily driving it. The holes in the floor are not holes, but my entire floor. It goes up and down the unibody rails and is over my rear hatch. The rail above the rear bumper is also rusting quickly.

At this point, its time for another jeep. I will hopefully be parting this jeep out starting as soon as i buy another one. Going to look at one on wednesday night. But thats top secret.

 

seems like a common issue - mine is rusting near the rear hatch too on the passenger side rail

 

It sucks, but i would like something more towards a daily driver. I drive about 30-40 miles a day to school and work. No carpet and big holes in the floor with a loud exhaust and mud tires is just so loud.

Looking to find another jeep for this weekend. Hopefully the lady tomorrow looking at the jeep i want will pass and i can buy it friday.

Parted the Jeep out in about a quick 3 weeks. Still trying to sell some parts.


The body was scrapped last week.


I now drive a blue 98 cherokee.
