Nothing righteous about it (it is a solid jeep with cosmetic issues)...

99 sport - 97,100 miles on the clock - Auto - 231 - interior is minty, even the headliner. Undercarriage is solid & clean. Only rust I can see is on the leafs & axles. Exterior is color correct but looks like it was repaired by a highschool shop class.

Drive home was my first test & it eased my nerves alot. Drove great runs strong / steering's solid / shifts perfect. Quiet.

so far so good. Perfect candidate for a lift / swap. (Old XJ Died)

(now to the cool part)

Landed some TJ moabs ...ordered some 265 75 16s

Put the swing out that came off the old XJ.

So the lift that was swapped over is basically a Unicorn Express 3.5 lift... replaced bushings, replaced the LCAs, ordered BDS shocks... etc etc...

Hammered 05-04-2014 07:40 PM

FINALLY got the rear leaf bushings swapped. Major pain in the arse. New moogs are lifetime so...

rides a little nicer now.

On the "to do" list.

- Put on the Riddler Diff covers. (came off my old XJ)
- Install the Transfer skid plate. (came off my old XJ)
- Replace rear bumpstops (I have replacement / extended ones (came off my old XJ))

On the 'to buy' List.

- simple Rock rails.

Ordered

- bilstein 5100s
- Currie 4" LJ coils (Much nicer ride / flex than the RE 3.5 coils)

I decided against ordering the FOX 2.0s (theyre SOFT SOFT) Ive done some reading and theyre great for offroad or Wranglers but with a street XJ they allow lots of body roll. Not that I care but I want a safe streetable XJ. So the plan is to go with he 5100s front & rear.

Put the Currie Coil springs in, and put in the front Bilsteins. Still sits nice & level. I think I need new adjustable lower control arms, the fixed clevite lowers seem short-ish.

to do-do: rock rails + rear shackle relocation brackets. + LCAs

Started the rust cleaning on the axles, spraying it down with the rust reformer then giving some coats of engine enamel satin black.
should be good for a little while. If the rain dries up I'll get the riddler diff covers and the HD Offroad T Case skid on.

Ordered new leafs, old ones were getting saggy. Just throwing money in the Jeep hole.

More to come.

Just a note: You can see a saw horse looking thing holding the front of my XJ up. Made it at work just for this purpose... Makes it sturdy, stable AKA SAFE to work under. Love this.

new RE 3.5 leafs installed as well as rear Bilstein 5100s & rear extended bumpstops.

Just ordered the ARB Awning. CarID.com has them for 80 bucks cheaper than anyone else.

So instead of $280 I got it for 200.. Very excited about this, cant wait to use it.

nice looking jeep well done.
how do you like the cooper st/ maxx tires thinking of buying them for my jeep I have the older st model and loved them but they are toast.

Hammered 05-28-2014 04:13 AM

Very happy with the Coopers. I'd buy em again... I like the crossover MT AT design. they have done well for me this winter and I've had no issues offroad or in the rain On the street.
