the ammo shortage will stabilize over the next few months (is my guess at least) due to the assault weapons ban not being re-imposed. If people would quit freaking out and dumping their savings on ammo ravishing the supply... haha!
i've got a ruger 10/22, 30 shot clip. sure if you shoot someone in the head it will do some damage but most people would aim center mass (like the torso) and you'd have to pepper someone pretty good if they're coming at you with that round. Shoot them center with a softpoint AK round or similar, not so likely .
Also i look at penetrating power, if someone or something is behind say a wooden plank or sheet metal that .22 is going to flatten (i've shot mine at plenty of these sorts of things... you get bored in the country) but a larger bullet rips right on through.
Funny discussion, at any rate.

I know. Down here all the ammo you can find is .30-06, 7mm, most shotgun, .303 British, and a couple other calibers that aren't widely used. If you do find any 22, 223, 5.56, 7.62, 9mm, .40, .45, .380, .308, etc you can only buy 3 boxes. It sucks.

Also huge deal....THEY AREN'T CALLED CLIPS....they are called MAGAZINES. The only thing that has any relevance that's a true "clip" is a stripper clip. Sorry I cringe every time someone calls a magazine a clip.
Sorry just bugs me.
I remember when you could buy 8000 rounds of 5.56 for about 41.cents a round

yeah, this ammo shortage sucks. i havn't gone to a range in about 2 months because of it. i have 50 rounds of 9mm left. i've only been able to find crappy reloads. i tried them last time i went shooting and eneded up giving most of them away to someone that was at the range. they were so dirty and would misfire about 2 to 3 times per mag.

Finally added another small mod to the XJ. I know a lot of people hate on niteshade, I'm not really into what other people think. It looks good and you can still see all my lights just fine.

It looks a little darker in the pictures than it does out in the sunlight. In person you can still see the red/orange/clear a bit. I didn't spray it real heavy. I think it looks awesome. Way cheaper then paying $150 for smoked corners and tails.

Awesome build man... Just picked up my XJ a few days ago and was planning a Zombie Resistance Vehicle. Gonna be awhile before mine looks as beefy as yours but I'm for sure going to steal some of your ideas. Its great you were able to do all this on a budget, I was dreading having to drop so much cash. Once I get a my tune up finished I'll be joining the group and begin my build. So pumped!!!!!

Well I found a great short shovel this weekend for 9 bucks. I went to the auto parts store and poked around until I figured out a way to mount it.
The universal exhaust hangers are $3 each at Auto Zone.
