i need to update more often,
got the 97+ center console installed, had to do some cutting and welding to get the late model e-brake to fit, used the 97 shifter bezel to mount the lokar shifter ring, my goal was not to have to unscrew its all ay time i had to remove the center console, all but 2 screws fit on the bezel after trimming. also decided to re-use the zj console lid instead of trying to find a stock 97 one. i already had it so screw it.
went to a national go topless day event yesterday in which 2 jks, a tj, and my self had doors and tops off....out of 20+ jeeps...super lame( only 2 xjs total, even lamer)
anywho drove it about 150miles round trip thru texas hill country up next to the guadalupe river, didnt take many pics since i didnt want to drop my phone out of the jeep.
on to the bad news, i didnt realized i didnt put it here lol
after fiddling with the 97 console i ended up leaving the jeep in drive, wen to start it up stanig out side the jeep and with no neutral saftey switch wired in, it rolled forward with the hood open into the garage opening, the hood caught the trim pulled it back and pushhed it down crushing the cowl. really stupid mistake on my end, shouldnt have happened.
got an estimate done to pull the damage straight...1000$...total kick in the head, it wast on the road legal fore more than a week.
such is life i guess
theres lots of tweaks i need to make now that ive put around 1000 miles on it
-power steeing pump swap, the brackets i used to relocate the alternator annd ps pump barely clear the the steering box lines leaving nearly no wiggle room to tweak engnie placement and angle, going to swap back to a wj pump with a remote fluid reservoir , and potentially a smaller pulley, ill have to see where it lands. after that i can tweak the engine side to side since its not quite inline with the rear axle, plus i want to rase the transfer case a bit to tweak drive shaft angle up and down
-novak cable shifter, i nstalled the body side bracket while the transmission was out, shouldt take to long to get installed
-front pinion angle tweak, i had vibes before and im sure they wont be any better
-power steering cooler, getting stacked behind the trans cooler with a 10" fan wired to come on with the high fan
-unibody stiffners, just need to get a c02/argon bottle for the welder
-A/C set up, im kinda dreading this one since im still undecided how i want to set it up, ive got 3 different types of compressors in mind plus i need to figure out how i want to approach getting lines made
-fix cowl/hood damage may be a while, want to get all this other stuff done so i can go to the jully 232 trip to hidden falls

ugh, reminds me of my first car, got rear ended leving school, they cut me a check and i put a new bumper on it my self, 10 days later got rear ended again. got it fixed thru insurance that time, then a month later got rear ended in a parking lot whilst i was shopping- hit and run- never fixed that, 4 hours after i sold it timing belt tentioner/ and water pump seized up, destroyed the timing belt, and bent 5 valves... that thing was a disaster magnet
ouch, i purposly dont ride or get interested in motor cycles, a friend of mine step dad is a vegtable now because of a motor cylcle accident. they scare me too much

for now the jeep will be playing DD, the transmission in my moms car went kaboom( its a ford so what can you expect?) shes driving my jetta untill she gets a new car or buys mine. bumms me out cause the jetta wasnt nice enought for me to care to much about it, but it got 50mpg and the only issue i had in a year was a seized alernator, at 230k..oh well
took the first step in fixing my vibes today, installed a reman PS pump, with a much smaller pulley( about 1.5ish inches in diameter smaller) i also found this cool little cooler line adapter for the steering gear, it was for a chevy truck but both the xj and the truck both ran saginaw boxes so i figured id give it a whirl
fcatory gm pulley on the left:
Adapter:
i had to bend it up just a hair but it worked perfectly
Much more betters clearannce:
had to get crafty pressing the new pully on, the front of the pulley was flush with the shaft before it was in line with the belt so i had to stick the end of a 3/4" wrench in there to get it to press dow far enough, you ca see withere the pump shaft is sticking out past the pulley:
of course with the smaller pulley i needed to run a smaller belt...or so you would think..
the L99 water pump im using uses a giant tensioner pulley that i swapped out with the truck pulley so my current belt would fit, its the same belt i was running on the 4.0L post first e-fan conversion haha, pluss with out a dd i didn't want to deall with trying to get a different belt, nearest parts store is 3miles waway. any who stuck the giant pulley on there and belt length was perfect
next up with be shimming the trans mission up till im happy with the angle of the dangle, thenn fiddling with the front pinion angle and getting 4wd working.
then setting up the a/c which im not really looking forward to( i mea the work, obviuosly im looking forward to having a/c again)
