Flux core has its place but the only time I ever use it anymore is dual shielded or if I absolutely have to because I don't have any shielding gas available. Minor repairs not in my garage, if its really windy, etc.
Not sure about where you're at, but go to a swap meet and find a bottle. Usually can find them for 20-30 bucks, pay your local welding supply to re-cert them and then you own a bottle for around 50 bucks.

update time:
exhaust is all finished, sounds bad ***, not to loud but has a great v8 rumble
got the GM evap equipment installed, seems to be functioning but is to soon to tell i think( also the diagnostic test are disable in the tune so it wouldn't throw a code if it wasn't working.
the harness is mostly all done and loomed up
tested the leads from the pcm to the transmission, everything checked out, so i'm going to test the internal trans harness tomorrow after work i'm hoping it something no worse than a bad pcm/trans electronics.
pulled the gas tank out to install the GM tank pressure sensor and while that was out i upgraded the fuel pump to a walboro 255 LPH fuel pump(should be good for 500+ hp now), was pretty much bolt in after the first round of mods to the sender, the jeep plug even worked for it! I also did the fuel tank vent mod for more tank capacity should be good for 26 gallons now, i i fgured id do it while the tank was out
also i found out by checking the serial number on the trans that it is actually a 4l65e from a 6.0L escalade (ists a factory beefed up version of the 4l60e) so i really hope its not blown up

so some of you may already know this, but after eliminating all other possibility i called time of death on the trans, i had planned on pulling it and rebuilding it my self but after lots of reading i decided to take it to have a pro rebuild the trans mission. dropped the trans out and dropped it off at the builders place on monday, and had it back by thursday and had it all installed by last night. also chose to install a new torque converter( stock stall) and a new hayden trans cooler paired with -6an braided cooler lines.
grimy trans out:

back from the builder:

also adding power steering fluid cooler and a 10" aux fan using the factory wiring behind the trans cooler , the aux fan will also be on when the A/C is on, when ever i get around to installing that

drove it around 50 miles yesterday, still lots to do before its "done" but its drivable. first thing is getting a new windshield installed and getting it inspected/registered so its legal again
also went and washed the project grime and oak pollen off it since it hasnt been washed in at least a year

updates!
got the fuel tank leak fixed, ended up drilling the return line hole bigger and stuffin a 1/2" ID grommet in the tank sealed with some fuel proof glue, then uses an all thread 1/4" NPT nipple into the turndown into the tank (1/4 npt pipe that runs to the bottom of the tank, keeps the return line fuel from aerating the fuel in the tank) then glued the washer back on and shoved it thru the tank, then glued up another washer and a double female coupler and sandwiched it all together with the 3/8 barb fitting i was using before.
got a new windshield installed since the hail storm we got last year cracked it in the drivers line of sight, making it non inspectable, then saturday i went and got it registered and inspected, jeep is all legal!

went down to the junk yard to pick up a 97+ console and some sort of thick stick shift boot to seal up the lokar shifter, im not willing to live with out a cup holder anymore haha. my PVC cup holder was located in a matter that the shifter hit my drink UNACCEPTABLE, spent about 3 hours today fitting the boot over the shifter and rigging the 97+ e-brake to work with the 96 cables( i realize i could have used all 97 brackets and cables, but i figured i could make the 2 work together...which i did) its not finished but the e-brake works. ill take a couple pics soon to show what i did to fuse them together

drove it about 80 miles today torque is telling me im getting 24 MPG which im not sure i belive yet, my last tank was about 15 mpg with a fuel leak, 1 o2 sensor malfunction, and tons of idling.

money shot
