Lol, I was just looking at the last pic I posted and it made me realize that I totally forgot to post pics of one of my little projects. So, um...here it is
I get to check off another must have item on my list; a tow hitch. It will serve to tow the utility trailer, and more importantly, it will serve as a recovery tool. Who knows when I'll decide on a rear bumper, or have cash for it, but I'll get to that after the lift. I love new toys still in the box
Im impressed with the compact size for such a heavy duty rating. The more tucked up the better though!
Im feeling a little more ready for action now.
Overall it was a pretty straight forward install, but it took me a long time to get it done. The left side was cake since it was just installing the nut strips. However, the exhaust hanger bolt on the right was a bear to get out, and I thought for sure I was going to break it. My poor little air impact couldn't even budge it, I had to use a large ratchet and cheater bar the whole way. Then I had to use a tap to clean the threads on that and the remaining three holes on the right side.

Here's a nice little easy one to check off..... rear hatch struts. Less than 5 minutes start to finish and no more propping it up with the shop broom. Easy peasy
I've bought the darker grey interior from the kids parts jeep and now I won't have to fight the hatch to do the swap. You never know how awesome these are until they dont work.
No more broom prop for me.

Nice I think I'll be replacing mine too. They hold up which is good but a little weak going up. Usually they go about half way then stop until I apply some force to raise it up all the way.

Mine started pretty weak and gave up shortly afterwards. The parts Jeep keeps taunting me because I've switched around my two and the two off of it in every possible configuration with no luck, but any two of them work fine on the parts jeep. It's like my hatch is just heavier. I finally gave up and bought new ones, and they are strong as hell!

I got my hazard lights and blinkers fully working now. Seems my turn signal arm has been suffering from moisture/corrosion issues.
All these issues have been helping me to learn more about XJ's, I'm starting to feel like I have a little I could teach people now, lol.
Here's what I found..... Sorry its blurry, but all the green stuff is corrosion. That would explain all the erratic results i got trying to use my blinkers/hazards.
My dremel with a soft stainless brush made it look as good as new!
I like being able to clean contacts instead of just buying new parts. New cars make everything so difficult, I miss this old school stuff!
All back together good as new

Okay back to turn signals so my lights all work, turn signals work, but what is funny is when turn signal switch is off I get one solid green light on my dash for right turn signal. Not flashing just stays lit all the time. Once I turn on signal it flashes and the left side only comes on when I turn left. So that's a strange combo if I might say????

Got the front carpet out and thank goodness...... No Rot!!!!! I was so nervous pulling the carpet back knowing it sat for a year and a half outside before I bought it.
Drivers side looks super nice
Passenger side looks fairly dang good too, just some discolored spots

Got the last of the dark grey interior pieces out of the parts jeep. It took me awhile to figure out how to remove the dash end caps and the a- piller plastics, but now I have all the pieces I need for the color swap. I've got most of the old light grey out of mine except door panels and already installed the dark in the hatch area.
Man the drivers seat was tatered, it folds like a taco. Ive never seen a seat that bad, lol. Out with the old (part 1)
Getting closer to getting rid of all the light grey. Out with the old (part 2)
Got all the dark grey from the parts jeep installed in the back. It needs a good cleaning but it'll do for now. The only thing still the wrong color is the threshold plastic by the latch. Seems half of them are glued to the carpet and break when removed. I thought i was going to be stuck with the light grey on the hatch plastic because the kids part jeep didnt have one, but he went out and bought me one as a gift.

Growing up I was always excited to hold a flashlight or hand my dad tools while he worked on his jeep. Nice build, I love seeing people fix semi-neglected jeeps. Keep up the good work!

Semi-neglected? This thing qualifies for that term, it was rode hard and put away wet. I'm pretty sure the P.O. drove it until it was unsafe.

I bought a storage box for the Cherokee yesterday. It's the tool box part of a storage system. I like that it's heavy-duty, lockable, connectable, and has a water proof seal. Now I have to get stuff to fill it with.
Santa brought me one for the YJ and my Cherokee
Everyone got one of these for when you're helping pull out that guy that doesnt have rear recovery points and left his toe ball with his trailer. Its light use Harbor Freight gear but i wont cry if someone accidentally drives home with it.
