..rust free and pretty straight... some fading on drivers door.. and no headliner go figure lol... ive owned many xj's ...first was a 93 2 door 4x4 rust bucket 4.0 ,,,i loved that jeep..i also have a few Comanches! I wanted a 2 door again and found it for 540bcks..

My plans on this Project is .....keep the 2.5 and rebuild or another.. put a Manual ax15 innn...keep 8.25 rear probally and add front???.... and RE 5.5 lift!!!!.... 33 tires and etc.....will see....

Amazing what falls behind engine mounts! 2 spark plugs ...1 melted up and a dist...mounting tab..bet he was ticked dropping that at 1 time.

REPLACE THE TIMING CHAINS!!! THATS WHAT CAUSED THIS PROBLEM! TENSIONER WAS IN PEICES AND CHAIN HAD TO MUCH SLACK ..SKIPPED A COG AND BAM! COVER HAD SOME CHAIN MARKS BUT NOTHING MAJOR...

Degrease degrease!!!!!! Im taking Block and head to Machine Shop Monday Am for further inspection and hopfully bore etc!! . I will be prepping all used parts such as oil pan and timing chain cover etc.. and getting paint... I will eventually be painting this rig a titanium finish with black accents way down the road! Any ideas on motor colrs are welcome???? I was thinking somthing light colored , so i can see oil leaks etc??

Well after exam head its appears obvious its cracked!!If you look at this pict u can see it in the middle area and the valves are Shot!!! Lol, I could get discouraged but nothing will change! Luckily i have saved a head from previous build on 1 my Comanches ..will see if its any good i guess! Now keep degreasing and start to order all the goodies for rebuild hopfully soon.. wait to see how block looks at shop.

thought i would share this link i made my first video and am learning.. its the Comanche but so be it.. also i took pictures of under the jeep to show the no rust and started taking engine mounts out and cleaning.

Cleaning the jeep up for engine mounts and some painting on engine bay... nothing fancy as im not doing a restoration...but i want to make it look nice and make sure i can keep it rust free ! Helps i live in Arkansas .

I think a royal blue (or something similar) might look pretty cool on the engine.

I say orange...I swapped in an ax15 into my 4cyl and painted it orange I bet you can't miss any oil leaks on that! Lol

First it all depends what ax15 you pick up...
If your lucky enough up 93+ ax15 with an external bearing all you need is the 96-98 Dakota bell housing (which I have a spare in the parts pile)...you can Pick up the clutch fork, throw out bearing, clutch fork clip, master cylinder and external slave cylinder separately...the only catch at least for my swap was I needed was the
Advance adapters pilot bushing part# 716167 to fit the .750 bearing size and
Center force clutch disc part# 383825....to be used with the ax15....

Since yours is a later model xj...I still have to do some research I'm almost certain you can use a complete clutch kit from a 96-98 Dakota and maybe even the flywheel as well.

Talking about this I seen 3 amc 2.5 Dakotas with manual transmissions in the Jy This week...

Cleaning and sent Engine in yesterday to Machine Shop!! All looks good besides the head being toast and they want about the same to redo a head as a new 1... so im debating another Promaxx head...

If the block needed all that work, why not swap in a 4.0? Looking good so far though

I have a 4.0 in another jeep... I like the 2.5 also for this project , i drive a 2.5 every day for the past 2yrs 42 miles in another rigg , 5 days a week... thats why and thanks.

I am mid way through an ax-15 swap in my 2 door cherokee. Very easy so far, but I have an entire donor vehicle.
