I ordered some poly bushings for the rear today and had a set of u-bolts made locally. I paid a little extra to support the local economy here ($55.00) but I figured what the hell, at least its not some Chinese pot metal. It looks like the rest of the week I will be trying to clean up the interior a bit and press out the old bushings in the leaf springs. I need this thing to ride fairly decent on the road so I figure the next couple big projects will be.
1. Drop brackets for control arms
2. SYE or Hack N Tap
3. Gearing...I don't think 3.55 and 33" will cut it
4. And of course body work

I made some progress today after work. I used a 55 ton press and it made easy work out of removing the bushings and sleeves. Earlier in the day my poly bushings arrived and my wife was nice enough to stick them in the freezer for me so when I got home I could install them. It only took a few wacks from a cast iron pan and they went right in. Tomorrow it WILL be sitting on the rear tires!!
On a side note the fuel that is in the tank (3/4 tank) is from 2009/2010. I was wondering if I should just jumper my fuel pump and drain it or pour in some heet and stabil and run it?
55 tons of pressure at my disposal made easy work of this.
Poly bushings installed...wife wasn't to impressed about using the pan on the kitchen floor to install them.

The rear suspension is on! It went on fairly easy, it only took about an hour to get it to this point. I still need to put on the lower control arms off of my silver xj and the rear shocks but that should be done by the end of today. I took a break and vacuumed out some of the interior and removed all of the broken front end parts that were piled in the hatch. I hope to drive it tomorrow at least around the block.

Today went well!! First I went out and got a new battery for the Jeep. Next I jumpered my fuel pump relay and drained all the old fuel out of the tank. Next in order was to get my lower control arms on, the ratchet strap was not cutting it so I ended up putting a tow rope on the front axle and backing up in order to align the longer lower control arms...worked like a charm. The rest of the day was buckling up misc things I had yet to tighten down. IT RUNS AND DRIVES!!!!!!
Gas can all setup to catch the fuel.
Jumped the fuel relay
This picture does it NO justice...the fuel was very very yellow..smelled terrible.

How in the HELL did you get that '92 for $150?
Seriously... The wheels and tires are worth that much alone.
Same for the bumper!

The 1992 looks decent in the picture BUT....very bad rust throughout, did not run, was involved in a rear end accident and the "frame" was pushed in an inch or more, only one door opened, rear hatch was cracked all over. So I told the kid I would give him crush weight and he could keep his tires but I got the wheels. I did manage to salvage the hood, wheels, lift, steering linkage and other misc parts before selling it.

I called ALL of the local salvage yards and only one of them had anything from 97-01. They already had a header and fender pulled off and the price wasn't bad either. I paid $265.00 after tax for them. I figured I wouldn't even be able to get the cheap chinese crap parts for that much. I hope to have the body pulled this week and new panels on this weekend.
The color does not match but beggars cant be choosers.

Ya...I'm not to sure what to think about it. It was in fact owned by a high school kid before me...this could get interesting.
