I don't mind at all man! I saw a picture of a similar setup one night and did it myself. All you gotta do is take the spare of the stock bracket, there will be a little metal piece sticking off the side of the plastic molding. Mark the spot wear that meats the side of the can, then cut the can so that bracket slides in. (I used a grinder. Its about a 2 1/2" slit.) Then slide the ammo box on it, and use whatever method you want to latch it in!. I used a master lock. That way if I need it out I just unlock it and slide it off and go! Its super strong, doesn't rattle, and holds alot of stuff! I've got antifreeze, oil, shop towels, tools cleaning supplies, jumper cables, parts, etc.

Ill check that out man. Yea i wanted to Change out the shackles, did you just tell rough country when you ordered it that you want 3" leafs and and 1.5" shackles?[/QUOTE]

You can do that. But since I got the shackle relocation kit it added 1.5" so my 3" leafs and it totaled to 4.5" in the rear. It sits level

Just picked this up for ten dollars at a yard sale. Its a military trunk used to hold some type of rocket or artillery shell. Its light weight and a real nice size. Perfect for the hatch or to sit in the back seat when i need to carry more than usual. I like the worn finish on it. But After I refinish the one I've already mounted back there, I may refinish it too.

Default 4wheelparts

I called to check the status on my wheels today. Now they are saying MAYBE the end of April. I'm pissed. Last time I called it was two weeks. Now this? I have to say I'm really unimpressed with 4wheelparts. When i bought the item they said nothing about it being on back order. Then they told me it was, and that it would be several months. I know these are the wheels I want so I decided to wait and tough it out. I get impatient several weeks ago and call, she tells me they WOULD be in between 2-3 weeks. Well, I believed her. This woman today says oh maybe the end of April. Maybe? I told her the last woman I spoke to they told me they'd be in in a few days. She said "sometimes things change. Is there anything else I can help you with?"
Yes, 4wheelparts, you can help.me by not telling me my wheels will be in in 2-3 weeks when in actuality you have no idea and don't know anything. I understand the wheels being on back order is out of your control. But don't get my hopes up and tell me they would definitely be in in 2-3 weeks if you don't know.

So, obviously I have to wait till who knows when for my wheels haha. So now I'm trying to decide if i want to just go ahead and put the lift on and have the tires mounted when they come or not. I kinda wanted it all done together so I wouldn't have to go through the trouble of getting the tires mounted twice. I guess ill just wait. I wish I weren't so impatient

Sucks man. I had a hard time picking out wheels and it made things more difficult that so many are on back order. I finally lucked out and found a set in stock and had them on the truck in a week. The whole experience was aggravating to say the least. Just keep reminding yourself how awesome it will look when it's done.

The ammo can is a rad idea, I definitely will be borrowing.

Thanks alot man. I'm just an impatient person haha and my job makes that quality a lot worse. I will have several more paychecks by the time the wheels come in though, so maybe I can go ahead and get a rear tire carrier and have it ready by the time they come in? Trying to think positive haha

Here's a little update for you guys on the last thing I did to my jeep.

A while back I stopped by my uncles exhaust shop. He does some of the best work in Tennessee. I worked for him myself for a while. But he hooked me up with a cat back exhaust with a thrush Turbo muffler and 3 1/2" stainless steel rolled edge slant cut tip. Sounds very nice, I was very impressed at the aggressive sound. I've owned and do own several vehicles and have owned mainly flow master exhausts, but I'm very pleased with this thrush muffler.

I'm gonna do a quick little write up on the 20 mm ammo can mod for those who want to do it:

All you need is a 20mm ammo can, and whatever method you want to use to cut it and fasten it. I used a small grinder and a brinks lock. The 20mm can is best, it fits perfectly. There are two types though, some have a hinged lid and some have a removable slide off lid. Slide off lid is best. The hinged lid will not open completely due to the pitch of the back hatch.

First you have to take the factory spare off the mount.

Afterwards you will have a black bracket on the floor of the hatch that goes into the wall, and a small metal tab sticking out of the plastic wall that has two holes in it.

Sit your ammo can on bottom bracket and up against the tab. Mark where the tab meets the ammo can so you know where to cut. I simply smeared a little oil on the end of the tab then pressed the box against it so I know the exact size to cut.

Take the box out and cut where you marked, be sure to make the cut as small as possible. You want it to fit as snugly as possible around the tab, too loose it will probably rattle around. I made the cut then used a metal file to get it perfect.

Now its ready to slide on! Slide the tab through the cut and latch it in. like I said, I used a brinks brand lock. I keep the keys on my key ring, so the ammo can is latched securely in at all times, no rattles, and if i need my tools outside of the vehicle or I need to put something big in the hatch, I just unlock it and slide it off and go! It holds alot, I've got antifreeze, jumper cables, tools, shop towels, cleaning supplies, oil, rags, spare bolts, parts, and fuses, and could fit way more. Best of all, it trees up more space in the hatch by keeping all the stuff that rolls around your jeep in one secure place.

This is a picture of the bracket it sits on

This is a picture of the tab that it latches to, and my method of using the lock to attach it.

That's it, nothing to it. A cheap, easy, cool looking mod that is very useful.

So Tennessee got some storms last weekend, and my xj received some hail damage. Mainly on The hood, but anyway insurance is looking at it soon and I'm hoping to get a new hood out of it, maybe even a new cowl hood?
