So the CJ-5 is going to happon! I am getting it for 2000 and that is a great price for how it is. It is my boss's CJ so pay it off over the summer as I am working so that is a good thing because I do not have to money right now. I know this is not about the ZJ but it will be kind of putting the work on the ZJ on hold. Here are some pics of the CJ-5

The plane was to get another car and make the ZJ right in to a trail rig but now with the CJ should i just make the CJ my trial rige and keep the ZJ for the road or the other way around?

I'd turn the CJ into a bob-tailed, wild **** trail rig, and use the ZJ for double duty. Daily driver and occasional trail rig and tow vehicle for the CJ.

Yeah I think that is what I am going to do. Not going to use the ZJ for towing because I have my dads 2500 HD as are tow rig. Already have alot of stuff planed for the CJ but the ZJ is still my girl and will have alot more work done on it!

The braket came for the CB and I got it all done today and it is about time. So for some people that maybe want to know how to do this all post some pics and show how I did it.

First i started off by picking a place for the CB (as I have in the post above). Then I used the self taping screws and put the braket in to hold the CB. Once I got the CB on i put the wires on to see what i got. So then I cut the carpet and ran both wires under it to the fuise box. At this point I ran the antenna wire around and under my dash to the driver door. I ran it up throw the door wire harness. There is a hole that you can run the wire to were I have the antenna now. I did have to cut the wire harness so I took some silicone and seld it back up.

Back to the power. I had to look in my owners manual and found a hot free fuse. Ended up using the one for power seats that I do not have. The ground I did not want to drill in the the body so I just used the bolt on the seat braket (in pic). I also ran this wire under the carpet.

Then I went and bulted up the the antenna. I live right next to 476 so I gave it a test and listenedto the truckers. Over all it was a pain in my butt but it worked out well.

Looks good. I'd put some sealer on that little hole in the conduit (where you ran the antenna) in the door jamb to keep water from getting into the harness.

Just checking the little things. I didn't know if you had gotten busy and forgotten that small point.

But thanks for the reminder! Well I am thinking about putting the 9" in the CJ because it will be a trail rig (just after the trip across country with it) but still want to but a 9" and 44 in the ZJ or if I can find tons somewhat cheap why not haha. What do you think i sould do with them axle wise?

I know I have not up daited this in a long time but just to let you know the zj build will have to end and the CJ build will start. It will be my DD for now and being shared with the CJ till it gets to being just a trail rig in the summer. The ZJ has seen its trails so it is ok. I am going to show pics of the CJ when we get working on it latter this year when I am home from school in the "other vehicle" part if you guys want to see it. BIG PLANS for this thing!!

to each his own but i say you should make the zj a complete trail rig and the cj double duty, or both double duty there are wayyyy more zjs out there and as a proud owner of a 1980 cj5 id hate to see such a clean one get cut up and ruined as a trail rig...just my .02 but again creature comforts that the zj have would be better as daily
