back to black.
For anyone interested, the Duplicolor version of plastidip..."CustomWrap", sucks. I bought it over plastidip for the spare wheel because I was short on time before leaving for NC, and it only needed 5 minutes between coats compared to Pastidip's 30 min dry time between coats. It looked great when it was dry and i mounted it up on the carrier and drove 9 hours to the beach. By the time i got down there it was cracked and peeling off, despite the proper prep.
Soooo...redone in plastidip and holding up great so far
I just jump into this thread every once in awhile and was wondering why you went back to a silver rim...Love that rear bumper/tire combo, even tho the rim doesn't match, it almost does.... That angle is also great, looks a lot better then just he straight up ones.

I will shortly have another set of wheels to match. They'll be 8" wide though. 2 of them will go on the trailer, 1 will be used for my spare tire, and i'll have another as a spare.

well it's been a while since I updated this. Haven't done too much to the jeep, just been enjoying driving it.
I changed jobs in December, so now instead of driving 3 hours / 120 miles a day, my commute is 20 min / 10 miles each way. And I'm home every day by 5pm. Much needed change, and it means i'll have a lot more free time!
So I took care of a much needed change to the jeep. Ever since changing to 35s, I've had issues rubbing the fenders at full lock. So much so that it was starting to crack the sheet metal apart. So I fixed it by removing the offending metal .
Fender Flares Removed (I like the look...but Maryland says no...)
Fender removed - before cutting:
Rubbing at full lock:
New Clearance after cutting (at full lock):
I also painted higher this time so that all the metal visible under the flare is black.
Hmmm..I like how you extended that black up a little more on the front fender. That looks good..kinda looks like it still has fenders from a side distance glance..
Looks good, Dukie.... Are the TJ flares still gonna fit?

That's the way mine was painted before I changed the front clip out...

Yup. I didn't cut them up any more, just the front and back. I used the flares as a template and cut and folded the fenders just inside the mounting strip this time. I'm in the process of repainting them - once that's done they'll go back on.
Checked out AOAA park this past weekend with a buddy of mine. Stuck to very simple trails since he lacked ground clearance. Was a nice relaxing day of trail riding and light wheeling.
I did figure out the hard way that I need to trim just a TAD more off of the rear bumper extensions. I flexed the jeep out on a hill, and then I backed down the tire caught the tip of the extension and twisted the bumper a bit. I'll fix it when I take the bumper off to powdercoat.
How was AOAA? Compared to Rausch i'm hearing mixed opinions, most say easier trails that are tighter while others say their trails are harder. Looks like fun nonetheless

I didn't experience any of the difficult trails. One big difference is "yellow routes" which are wide fire roads for going between trails. But yes most of the trails I went on were very tight and wooded.
IMO they need a better trail map / naming system though. It's very tough to figure out where you are and where you are going.
