I undid both side completely and then lowered my low profile jack all the way to the floor. still had to push down on the side I was working on to get it out but I came out. Your other option is to take out the upper control arms, that will let the axle drop some more. May be harder to raise it back up evenly though.

I ended up just going to AutoZone and buying a spring compressor. Super easy for the most part. My bud rusty got the springs out while I worked on putting the new lights in.. We both had issues. :furious: He couldnt get the spring compressor to line up right on the new springs and I coulldnt get the drivers side headlight out because all 4 screws were stripped:sleeping: I had to go to work so thats where we are at now. I almost got the passanger side headlight instsalled but need a longer bolt because the new headlight is slightly thicker. Ill go to fastenal to get a longer one in the morning before work. Atleast we made a little progress:thumbup1:

Also I just bought all 4 turn signals off of Rere1992 to replace all of my beat up ones. Im also getting the inside door handle from him!! Excited that I found the signals, I've had trouble locating them in the OEM yellow

This morning, before work me and rusty got the passenger side spring put in and almost have the drivers side in. Tried to go to fastenal to get those screws for the headlights but they were moving locations so they were closed. Ill go to the new location tomorrow!!

Drove 2hrs away this morning to pick these up!! Super clean! Been looking through the JY for a long time with no luck... Finally found them on craigslist in Wooster Ohio.. $75 bucks, I think I got a steal considering the condition!! I got both fronts, I didn't buy the back seats because mine are in good condition

offroadXJ1999 08-22-2016 01:44 PM

Still in the process of finishing the front drivers side spring. Slow but steady progress  will probably finish wednesday!

offroadXJ1999 08-29-2016 02:28 PM

Been awhile since last update but shes coming along! Got the front springs fully in!! Finally... Then I went to take it to the garage I rent a few miles down... Then problems. A stud broke off and was locking the passenger side wheel doing down the road.. I'm assuming after limping it like this for .05 miles it now needs a new hub, bearing, possibly some brake parts... Having trubble getting the ZJ seats to work right too but oh well im having fun on my slow build. its getting there slowly.

Wow seems like a great deal! Did you have any trubble installing or wrong sizes? I think ill get this insted of each peice separate!

offroadXJ1999 09-11-2016 07:49 PM

Did some work on the xj today!! Finally got the high output alternater installed!! Plus me and rusty got the old battery out and some of the new battery wires in! Everything went pretty smooth besides me chipping a little peice off of the sidewall of the pully trying to hit it softly to allow tne belt to loosen enough for rusty underneath to put the belt back on the alty. i dont think think the little chip will effect anything but it still grinds my gears haha.. also i got a RC adjustable trac bar and I ordered a Skyjacker steering stabilizer to replace my beat up stock one.. oh and I got some more lug nuts to replace the keyed ones from PO that are a PIA!! Thats where Im at now, I think its going pretty steady! Getting excited!

Got the best deal of my whole life today... meet a guy off Craigslist selling parts off his totaled xj. Went to his house tonight and scored major deal!! I got a or-fab rear quarter armor with rubrail and taillight guard for both sides. I also got a pair of rock rails (unknown brand but looks very heavy duty). Lastly I got 4 spidertrax wheel spacers. All of this for the large price of.... $180!!! All of the parts are in amazing condition! Plus I was going to buy all of these parts anyways so I saved a ton of money! Im pumped! Pics will be up tomorrow or Thursday!
