So I've been meaning to make this build thread for quite a while. I decided that I would start it tonight, on Thanksgiving.
Ive had the jeep for a while now, I bought it bone stock from some lady in Long Island who used it solely to commute to college every day. Me and my dad had looked on Craigslist one morning and saw that she had posted that same morning, so we called her up, went to look at it, and I drove it home that same night! I was pretty skeptical when I first got it. Its my first jeep and I was nervous about some of the noises it made.
I recently lost all the photos on my iphone, so I had to pulls some of the ones I posted on facebook.
Here are the best pictures I have of it stock:
Next to lgnut123
I saved up for a while and I knew that I wanted to lift it right away. I went with an IRO 5.5 inch short arm kit, with adjustable control arms, and doestch tech 9000's.
For tires and wheels I went through Extreme Vehicle Builders in Danbury and got Mickey Thompson Baja MTZ 33x15x12.5 and some Pro Comp O window wheels.
I had the lift shipped to my buddys (lgnut123) farm in upstate NY, because thats where we were going to install it, so I had to load everything into the back of my jeep, I snapped a pic before I left
I showed up at the farm after a solid 3 hour drive, which my stock jeep did great on, and we instantly parked it in the garage and got started with the install. It took us approximately 11 hours to get the front end totally done
We started on the rear for a few hours, before we decided we needed a break, so jetski it was. After a few more hours on the rear, it was finally done, and i was driving it around the farm
My first impressions were, man this thing is big, and holy vibrations. I got an alignment the next day, after we took it out on its mayden voyage of course. here are a few pictures from Propect Mountain near Lake George.
Obligatory d-bag pic
Pretty damn good flex for a short arm, the doestch techs give a lot of droop
A few weeks ago I ordered a sub, amp, and sub box from a vendor on here, and I got all of it installed. The box is one that fits in the rear cargo area on the passenger side, so I had to cut away a lot of material to make it fit in the cubby. Unfortunately since I lost all the photos on my phone, I will have to take some tomorrow and post them for you guys.
I also bought a built HP d30, and a Ford 8.8 thats already been modded to bolt right into the cherokee, all I need to do the 8.8 is get new brake calipers, pads, and rotors for it, and set up a parking brake, any suggestions on the cheapest way to get a parking brake for it? Currently waiting for those axles in the mail, tracking numbers say delay because of hurricane sandy
Today, Thanksgiving, I went out and decided to finally rip off the fenders and do a cut n fold. unfortunately I ran out of daylight and only got the rear folded, I was able to get a coat of duplicolor bedliner spray on just before it got dark though
I wasnt able to get any pictures of the whole jeep with the fenders trimmed, or of the paint on, tomorrow im going wheelin with lgnut123, hopefully the paint drys tonight, kinda chilly out! Ill get some good pictures tomorrow while wheelin.
Hope you all like where this is going so far, and feel free to comment and subscribe!
