I have most if the lift figured out. Here's what I have so far: (I'll edit as I go along ang get stuff nailed down including part #'s)

Fat bobs 3" spacers
Grand Cherokee v-8 front coil springs
Pro comp 5" lift shocks (fr & rear)
Extended Sway bar links
Track bar
1" TC drop
Bastard pack (s-10 or Dakota)
New u bolts
8.25 rear end
Extended brake lines (fr & rear)

Do I need these things?
Shackles for rear
Drop pitman arm
Or is there anything else I'm missing?

Also... I assume the rear leafs need to be off a 4wd truck?
I would do a 1" drop pitman arm or over the knuckle steering with a right hand drive drag link off an xj. You can get the 1" drop pitman arm by getting one off a v8 zj. You should also look into a long Arm kit or drop brackets being at 5" you won't flex as much as you could.

Wow! I thought the coils were like $200+.... Thanks!

What kind of control arms would work best? I just forgot to put them on the list.

Umm... Long arm isn't Gunna happen due to cost. I don't need a whole lot of flex.... Won't be doing a whole lot of crazy off road stuff. I'll be on road 80% of the time.

I didn't think you Wanted to spend that kind if cash for long arms. Control arm drop brackets will really help your ride on the street though. They also flex more. I would go with iron rock control Arms just the lowers would be fine till you could afford uppers. You could even run stock control arms with drop brackets if you don't plan on hitting them.... But when you can get some lowers

I doubt I'll ever do more than go through a foot of mud..... All I wanna do is have it drive able and trustworthy.... And to make the wife get that "special smile".....
I'm not Gunna have to worry about going over rocks or logs.

$700 control arms would be long arms. good adj. upper and lowers would cost $400. you can get some budget ones for like $150. just search some reviews and companies but you're not going to get great stuff for the price no matter what

first off why did you quote me instead of him. second, I wouldnt do any of the things you suggested. dont run stock control arms. just buy some replacements and do it all at once

Only because it was the one I was on.......

Well this "budget" lift sure got out of hand. I think I'll just take it to les Schwaab and have them do it for $1100 as quoted and not have to get dirty.

All of the write ups I've read didn't put all of this stuff on.

My understanding was that I could easily get a 4-5" lift for $500-$600.... I'm well over $900 just for parts now (not including the rear end). Plus shipping.
I love to do my own work.... And have lifted my suburban & 2 older chevy's successfully in the past. But if I can get the same lift with all new parts installed for the same price, this is no budget lift.
The whole idea was to do the lift for less than I paid for the truck. That ain't gunna happen.
And to me it's a truck... I only see 2 kinds of vehicles... Cars and trucks.... I don't care what DMV says... This ain't no station wagon......

Your gonna need some new shackle relocation brackets. rc makes the leaf springs to short, the track bar from what I hear is as good as a tin can, my old coils were actually more like 2.5" coils, your shocks will probably suck and I'm pretty sure you'd need a new pitman arm with their track bar unless it comes with a relocation bracket.
