Default blakexcore's Project DD 96 XJ

Hey guys (and girls),

Just joined here, and figured I should start a build thread for my Jeep(s). I've had a 98 sport for awhile, and it's just been giving me problem after problem. After looking for a transmission I decided to get a new one instead. So I bought a 96 base model. 4.0, AW4, D30/D35, etc. I got it from an old man that used it to tow behind his RV. 240,000 miles but it's perfect. Runs smooth, cold a/c, and all. I'm swapping all of the aftermarket parts over sometime this week.

My current plans are:
swap over 3 inch lift and 31x10.50's
swap over H4 conversion
swap over radio headunit
Remove old purple tint and replace with 15% all around
Flowmaster exhaust and K&N intake
Banks header
Detours backbone and tailbone (the front will be custom fabbed)
Q9000i winch
Nates 4x4 roof rack
ironman 4x4 adjustable track bar and shackle relocators
Cb radio w/ firestik
JCR offroad rock sliders
Remove rear sway bar / quick disco on front
JCR offroad quarter panel armor (upper/lower)

That's about it for now. It will be DD status for a few months until I get something else. The 98 is such a pos that im just gonna keep the parts I need and part the rest out. Be on the lookout for a thread soon.

I will get new pics soon, these are the best ones I got right now. I will also update this thread as I go along with pictures.

Thanks for looking!

I'm in McDonough. The header panel is cracked at the top, but the fenders are good.

I swapped out the radio too because it has a tape player lol. I'm doing the H4 and HID's tomorrow.

So plans are changing a little.
Long-term, I want the BDS 6.5" long arm kit, 33x12.50x15s, an 8.8 swap, 4.56 gears, locked front and rear, full bumpers and armor, and an interior cage...

I'll be making progress slowly but surely.. for now it's my DD so nothing too crazy til i get something else to drive.

No huge updates lately. I ordered my exhaust from performance curve, tow hooks from rustys (still gotta get tow point for the rear), and a 21.5" led light bar from HANMA.

I plastidipped the rocker panels, but I did a pretty ****ty job, so I'm going to redo it on wednesday and do the quarter panels as well. I also pulled the purple window tint off so it can be redone in 15% all around.

Pics will come when my parts come in.

I went to PAP south the other day to find some WJ parts with a friend. I found an 89 with the tow package and 4 cyl... maybe 4.10 gears?
