Finally got to some wheeling! Loaded up the family, some basic gear, and hit the road. Found a bunch of Class VI roads local, had a blast! The XJ did great!
Still getting some clunks under the front seats/floor area. It sounds like something BIG is loose and clunking against the floor frame on the front section of the XJ. I’ve checked everything several times, can’t find a single thing loose!
Also, it is driving terribly on the road now. The damn thing is all over the road once in get above 45. I must look like a drunken fool by everyone driving around me, I’m surprised I wasn’t stopped and checked for drunk driving! I am going to get it back to the Jeep shop I had align it, something is out of whack, it drove like crap now....
Very nice. Seems like a lot of people are making swing outs this time of the year. I made mine just a couple weeks ago too. Keep it up!
Thanks! I’m still working on mine. I meant to have the base unit done tonight, painted, and ready for the spare by tomorrow afternoon. Unfortunately I o my got a few hours in the shop before I had to shut it down for the night. My whole house has been sick for the last 10 days, seems it’s my turn....tied up in my recliner for the rest of today. Here’s to hoping I can get some time our in the shop tomorrow.
Sick! I love how close the tire sits to the rear of the hatch. All the major brands of XJ tire carriers have them stock way out away form the jeep. I like everything tucked in close.
Very nice. Is that supposed to be a skid plate for he spare in case you hit? Also how do you like that latch design? I was having mixed feelings about each of the several types before going with a hinge latch and a spring pin.
