If you run that shackle to the rear though then your going to hit that bolt coming into your rear leaf spring boxes. Obviously that is where those relocation brackets come into play and another set of shackles like the boomerang type.

Now that I think of it I believe mine is facing foward and not rear????? Though it was like that before I dropped the 3.5" leafs under with the new shackles.

I guess that means I need relocation brackets too but I know guys who run this same setup and have no issues so I need to do some research on this. Photo I have on my page makes it hard to tell and I will just have to look when I get home.

Let me know how you remedy yours or will follow this to find out.

Your build is coming along and nice job on the flap disc and cleaning those LCA bracket cuts up.

I'm gonna put in the JKS shackles and see what happens. If that doesnt fix it, I'll look into the boxes. I need to finish putting the front end together first

So, I work 3rd shift (Monday through Friday) from 11pm to whenever I get off. They just shifted my schedule, so I'll be working Sunday night through Thursday night. That will give me a better weekend with my wife and daughter. Also, that dedicates Friday to working on the Jeep. That times out perfectly, because I ordered tires this morning and FedEx confirmed delivery tomorrow. I also picked up a caliper bolt set. Hopefully I can straighten out the knuckle where the bolt is stripped. If not, I'll swap a knuckle from my spare axle. Lastly, I picked up oil, filter, oil filter adapter o-ring, and trans filter kit. Will be ordering my Accel tune up kit tomorrow. Hopefully get this thing running great

Sounds like your on to the right path....any luck on that leaf spring shackle dilema? Good they were able to shfit your schedule around to be with family more that is important. Nothing is worse then to have days off when no one else does and then when they are you are stuck at work. I know that feeling all too well.

I haven't messed with the shackle. That's on my to do list. I don't want to lift the rear of the Jeep with the way it's sitting right now on my wooden stands

So, picked up another piece to the front end puzzle. I know alot of people ditch the front swaybar, but since my Jeep will pull double duty on/off road, plus I'll have my daughter in it sometimes, I'd rather keep it. Thats why I got discos. But I picked up a set of Moog swaybar bushings. Should be alot better than the stock bushings that are still there from 1999.





Also ordered a set of new 33s. They are cheap, but I got a killer deal, and they're gonna suffice for now. I didn't wanna stick with 35s since the body is on such good shape. Don't wanna cut the fenders. Plus, I needed new tires to pass inspection...which hopefully will be in the next few weeks. They stick out a little more than I'd like. Kinda wish I still had the fender flares.

Thunderer are a solid tire, I run them on my silvy in the 35" fashion.
Just wish they made 35s in a 15" wheel option for the XJ...

Anyhow stay on top of rotation and you will get great mileage out of them.

Yeah, my buddy runs them on all his landscaping trucks. I'm anxious to see how they ride on the XJ

Those tires look really good. That's the same width as mine. Mine stick out that far all around but yea fender flares help with that.

What was your back spacing again?

Not sure. Bought the wheels second hand when I still had my 89. Would have to measure to get a good number

Measured one this morning. Backspacing is 3.75

So, some more pieces to the puzzle arrived yesterday. Got my Accel tune up kit.





So, when I was putting my axle together, I noticed my caliper bolt was stripped out. So out came the tap and die set. Chased the threads, but that didnt help, so I pulled the knuckle. And thats when I found the bad news...axle seals are leaking



So I logged onto Quadratec and ordered Ten Factory Axle tube seals. That should fix it for the time being. I'll tear into it one day.

Dude! pull that carrier and put in new axle seals. Its not as bad as it sounds. Tube seals are designed to help keep water and mud out not keep gear oil in.

I plan on it. These are just for the time being so I can get it on the road and tagged. Plus, this is a new axle that I swapped my locker into, so I plan on driving it for a little bit and changing the fluid anyway.
