Default Newbie from south/central Louisiana

I bought this 1990 Jeep Cherokee just over a year ago from an older rich guy. It belonged to his wife who passed away like 7 years ago and it's been garage kept ever since. He claimed the engine was rebuilt and only has about 30k on it now since I've bought it. The rest of the drive train has about 165k on it now. Power windows and door locks and the a/c works. The door locks are actually sticky and don't work that well. I tried cleaning them up with break cleaner and they worked GREAT for about a week then got all gummed up again. Any suggestions on this problem? It's a work in progress...very slow process. All I've done in the year that I've had it is strip all the molding off and added Grand Cherokee aluminum wheels. I just purchased my steel for the roof rack I'm about to start on. Anyone from this area feel free to hit me up! We can get together and do some wheelin!

I'll be posting some pics of the rack build soon! My wife is due for #3 any day now so it'll be a few weeks probably before I can start but I'll keep an eye on this!

This is from when I 1st bought the Jeep...notice all the trim and ugly aluminum wheels that I hated so much!

The other day I decided to go do some bumpy riding to try and induce the wife into labor. She'd have contractions when I hit the big stuff but no daughter yet. If you notice my kids hanging out the window they love it!!! BIG TIME off-road enthusiast. I pulled all the trim off and picked up these wheels from Pull-a-Part for about $15 each after I traded in my old ones.

Wish List (hopefully in this order):
1. complete roof rack and install KC lights
2. paint OD green
3. install front/rear bumpers (found some on EBay for a reasonable price...just need to fab a rear tire carrier)
4. 6 1/2 inch Rough Country long arm lift on 33 inch (maybe 35's with fender trimming) super swampers
5. stroke the 4.0 to a 4.6

well i've been researching some long arms i found from iron man 4x4...they can handle a 12" lift so i've pretty much built up a 9" lift for $1700 so far. the only thing i'm having trouble finding by itself is the subframe crossmember to bolt the long arms to.

the rough country 6.5" long arm lift is what i was originally looking at but can you order just the long arm mounting cross member from them? that's the last part i'm trying to find for my "piece together" kit

I've pieced together a 9" lift for a grand total of $3k for all the suspension stuff and the sye kit and cv rear driveshaft...not bad right? considering the 6.5" from rough country is 1200 without the sye kit and driveshaft

i'd like to go with 35" tires but i don't wanna do too much body trimming and i like a nice gap between the tires and body. i don't care for the tire filling the wells. know what i mean? just not my thing. i know i could go with 35 with the 6.5" long arm but i'm not sure yet. still researching

9" of lift is gonna be pretty tall for the trails. Remember the taller it is on the trails the easier it is to catch branches and to tip and so forth. Do the rough country 6.5 long arm kit and put 44s under it and that would be a sweet trail rig. Just .02
