New GC (to me), now to start modding
After a bit of searching I found a 2002 GC Limited. It has 117K on it. 2 owners, with most of the maintenance records. Interior is in very good condition. It looks like they took very good care of it. All highway miles.
Now let the mods begin. I'm thinking of start with a 2" BB and new shocks.
Stock tires are 235 65 r17. I'm thinking of going with a 245 70 r17 (about 30.5" diameter.) I'm eyeballing the DuraTrac's.
I'm thinking between 30" and 31" will work fine for height with no rubbing. How about width? The stocks are 6.01". Will there be issues say going to 7.25"? I ask because craigslist just popped with some 16" wheels - 245 75 r16 duratracs.
This is not my DD. I don't plan on hardcore offroading but there are plenty of trails (all levels of difficulty) leading to ghost towns, middle of no where, etc here in CO.
Always looking for thoughts or different ideas.
Thanks,

I first bought a BB from Ebay for $100 and Zone Off Road 4in shocks (anticipated more lifting in the future.) Did amazing at the offroad trip here in Pa. As for tires, You can do 265s within reason, I ride on 16s (2001 WJ) So the 4in lift I am getting is allowing 265/75R16s (about a 31.5in tall.) A 2in BB, you would be fine without any trimming at 245/75R16s.

Great. That's good to know. The add for the tires was 2001 Ford Explorer rims as well. Any thoughts on whether those will work on our GC's. Searching now to try and find out the specs of both. But since this is now consuming my life I should probably see if my legs still work.

Might have to see what the bolt pattern is on the Exploder wheels.
I thought they are the same as XJ/MJs, which is 5x4.5, not 5x5. get the wheels/tires and mount up the tires if they are in good shape to do so.
