my snow machine build
so here i have a 89 2 door 5 speed with the front disconnect axle. has 190xxx miles and seems to run fairly good.
pic from when i picked it up :
she has a 3 inch lift 31's and drop brackets on the lower control arms. going to eventually build radius arms. weather is inhibiting my want to go out side and weld.
did a little spray paint to day make it look a little better flat black primer . if its not raining tomorrow i am going to spray in gloss black.
tomorrows plan is to cut the front fenders and re-install the front flares and same with the rears. the rear i will just put back in stock location as it seem that the don't get grabbed like the fronts do.
the next major mod is to swap in a set of 4:10 or 4:11's form a 4cylinder jeep. i have 3:07's right now .
i took my old manifold off and installed one that had way smaller cracks init. i tigg welded them with stainless rod and then heat stress relived the manifold so it should be god for a long while.
i installed new T3 bosch injectors and re did my exhaust so far.

Nice! You'll have fun with that. But buddy you doing things a bit backwards; you wanna sand, prep, prime and paint AFTER you cut your fenders.

i will only have to touch up the fenders edges after i cut them. i did scuff the paint first. i am also on the fence about really cutting them. i will certainly do it before i spray the gloss paint.

so for the time being i chose not to cut the fenders. when i do i will get some thin that will fit the wheel well better for it.
so gloss black and red. should stand out if i am ever stuck in need of help or some thing to that effect.
will also be installing my cb and antenna. the SWAK box is hand at times.
today's progress: now looks like a regular jeep again other than the black quarters and fenders.

whats so hard to under stand about black and red? i will eventually get after the top too. paint it black. i like the doors being mostly red. seen lots of other two tone jeeps. mostly black and green or blue or some other color. i didn't know it would be found so offensive lol

did some searching around today. i really want to re-engine my jeep. some thing that will have a reduction of weight and fuel consumption along with reliability. that pretty much points me too a 4 cyl of some sort. so did some looking around and found the Toyota diesel 2.2 l turbo. now that i think will be a good fit. lots of space to fit it in. it lighter and produces good torque along with it can be wound to 4500 rpm. so running around from 1200-2000 rpm should make this little engine right at home with some 4:10 and 33's. i want to save up and fit this before any major axle work or sus mods. engine comes with trans and t- case, ecu and wire harness so other than drive shafts and mounts its a good deal. looking at a cost of 2500 bucks.
any one else re motor with other than jeep? i like the xj body and running gear. just not the renix part ha ha . figure lighter engine better floatation in snow can be achieved. diesels don't genraly throttle up super fast and that should help with increasing wheel speed with out digging.
thoughts?

fair enough thank you . i think i will end up painting the whole truck black as time goes on. the major thing was getting some rust taken care of and sealing the metal again to prevent it. as you can see the quarter and fenders as usual were the culprits of this.
i may re paint it all in red too. but we will see. if any one want to post a pic of there two tone jeep please feel free may give a me a idea if some one doesn't mind being copied too much. i'm new in he jeep world so i am on a crash course of what is a fail or not .

im liking the idea of a toyota diesel while you are at it throw a toyota rear axle in already comes with 410s you can use a toyota bellhousing with the ax15 cant you? and i think change the input, the diesel has the same mounts as the 22r series doesnt it?

i'm watin on one of my bmw's to sell so i can have some spending cash for this little heep of mine. i thought about the toyota axles but i already have the 410's from a 4cyl jeep. so i am just gonna use them and i have the metal to truss them so i hope that and some aftermarket axle shafts will do me good.
hope to get a lot lot done over the winter and summer so i can buy lockers this next winter.
