Default My first wife BUILD. till death do we part

Ok so this is my build.

1989 jeep cherokee sport. 4.0l, peugout 5 speed. 231. hp 30 and d35/44 rear

traded for it in 2008 for my crappy old drum set. the man had pulled out the tranny to replace the slave and was too lazy to put it back in.
17 at the time. we first met through an online dating site. those of you who are familiar with ksl classifieds will know what im talking about. i had my fair share of girls before including 2 (84' 85' 2.8l v6's) and one 88' 4.0.
but they had all come and gone.

then of course the inevitable. a lift. i pulled from the junkyard for 77 bucks.
shocks, springs, quick disconnects, adjustable track bar. 5'' leafs and coils, with lower j arms and stock uppers.
i was in business! right?

wrong. and whats not shown in the pictures is the tweaked stock upper control arms

i then attempted way too many things at once. i bought three more cars (over a space of some time) to fix and sell. while at the same time i was in the middle of swapping in an 87 xj d44 i found at the junkyard for 75 bucks, struggling to build a bumper, make upper and lower adjustable control arms., swap the puegout with a better one. truck bed line the whole under body. put some 2'' shackles and pucks on. make the doors removable. do a 97' and newer xj front clip swap and squeeze 35's under cause i thought they looked.... cool. and this was the result.

Default DONT DO THIS

this setup wouldn't, or shouldn't be absolutely terrible. but it was.
especially when you start to have ideas. and take things way to far.
in other words if your xj is built like this.

DON'T DO THIS!

what you dont see next. is the whole DRIVETRAIN that fell out of the bottom of my jeep. my crossmember came undone which dropped everything ruining pretty much all of my new u joints, bending the tubing and inner c's of my vacumm disconnect hp30. shearing the bolts and thread bosses off of my driver side motor mount. and in other words leaving me and my first wife in a bit of a disagreement.

im broke at this point. and bought another jeep. 96 2 door with an ho 4.0 aw4 8.25, 231 and the non disco hp with 297's. with a blown head gasket.
*300 bucks.
*300 bucks more and i had a running 96 with a new head.
*but then i got fancy. took the car up to 130 mph and threw two rods
*so i got another block. with a high flow oil pump, new seals, gaskets, and pulleys everywhere and a practically new engine with 70,000 miles on it.
*that probably adds up to over 1000 bucks later

*now i have a spun rod bearing for no reason in that jeep. so i've, set that one off to the side for now.

^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^ its hard to see but if you look hard enough you can see the two holes in the side of the block that the rods shot out of^^^^^^^^^^^^

i went in for surgery on the 11th of january and remained in the sling for another two months.

the injury taught me to take one thing at a time. and to focus more on the important parts of my jeep. but sitting around all day at my house dreaming about what i could do to my xj was pain enough!
it was my good arm of course that was in the sling being right handed.
but there was a titamium plate and six screws holding that baby together so i put it to the test. and made some bumpers and painted the car with one hand!
a couple buddies helped me out a ton. as far as lifting, sanding. but i did all the welding and grinding, painting and piecing together so long as it was close enough to me that i didnt have to extend my arm in the sling. disclaimer: broken clavicle not good for painting. but it worked out
welding left handed is no easy task.

look for the sling haha
