My 99 cherokee project
This project for me was to make a nice XJ that I could drive to the trails, wheel all day, camp and drive it home.
I had a 2002 explorer sport trac 4x4 I did this with and was great. This one will be a bit more extreme.
I started out with a wrecked 99 Cherokee for $700. 150k. Auto, all power options, even power sunroof. All in great condition and the truck had even been ziebarted and undercoated. No rust!

First things was fix the damage.
Fixed the transmission lines, replaced both fans, replaced PS pulley, new coolant hoses, new water pump, new battery and new battery terminals, straightened the apron and painted it. Put on decent fender and hood from another jeep.

Next was the lift. I started with the rear.
S-10 bastard pack with autozone lift shackles and new u-bolts.
Shackle angle is 90 degrees and probably to far out on the adjustment. I'll lower it some and do relocation boxes later.

Next was the front.
Parts list:
Rubicon Express 4.5" lift coils
Rubicon Express shocks
Rubicon Express steering stabilizer
IRO adjustable track bar
IRO fixed lower control arms
Still working on the install
Trying to get the steering stabilizer off the drag link. It's being a real PITA

Gotta take the truck to work one day to use the oxy/acetylene torch on the stabilizer bolt but I got the rest of the front end together.
Was gonna straighten the brake lines and mount lower but I think I'll just buy new longer SS brake lines.

Installed my HD slip yoke eliminator i ordered from IRO
used a front driveshaft from an automatic
Was a lot more work than i thought itd be, but in the end a 9/16" stubby ratcheting wrench got the job done, must have for this job!
Oh and i HATE snap rings
the final result, one more step closer to driving it again!

I like your choice of wheels, actually I was thinking of doing something similar but in dark grey or black. I already a wagon wheel on my spare and liked the way it looked. Also your jeep is coming along great! can't wait to see it with the new tires!
