My 97 build
So I get the Jeep bug and after some research decide that a cherokee is the ticket. Started looking around and found this
sitting in a yard but nobody home. Several weeks go by before somebody is home when I'm passing by. Long story short the owner says he parked it when the motor started knocking several years ago. Wanted $500 but I got it for $200.
Hauled it home
and after a couple days of work taking the gas tank out and cleaning it, I got it running .
The plans are now to pull the engine and do a rebuild which after some research I feel is the best way to go. If you do a swap you don't know what you're getting and the rebuild should be about double of what a junk yard charges for a take out engine. This will be a first for me but I think my back yard skills and maybe a little help from here and there it should get done.
Then I plan to get it reliable and start the fun stuff...lift, big tares, bumpers, winch, and lockers but, that is a ways off yet as it is going to take a while working on it in my "free" time.
Any and all help / suggestions/ advice will be appreciated. I'll keep posting pics as it goes.

A little info on the Jeep; 4.0 5 speed with 8.25 rear. PO said he just replaced the brakes, transfer case, and AC compressor before he parked it. Very little rust, the drivers door is tweaked a little hitting the front fender. The last pic is sposed to be a video of the engine running. Here I'll try it again
