Man I will have to say. You have one of the cleanest XJs I have seen in a while. Your style is sorta like mine. I'll be following your thread. I'm working on starting one soon. I am in the middle of my slow but sure build as well. Love what you have done with yours.

Thanks man! It's coming along but it will take awhile!

Update: 4 shiny new Bilstein 5100's are laying on my bed at home, just waiting for me to get home from college for winter break. I just ordered IRO BPE's as well, so I should be able to knock out that project pretty easily. The stock shocks have already been replaced with the initial lift, so I'm not expecting too much trouble with the rear shock bolts, etc...although I will still PB Blast them for a week beforehand! I have a pretty big house painting job to do at the start of break, so there's a CHANCE that I could finally order OME coils and leafs and get those installed before January!

For the rear shocks, does it matter which way they are mounted? As far as stem up or stem down?

Loving the build man, super clean and doing it right the first time. I'm jealous of the white XJ's they look amazing. I'm headed the expeditionary route with my XJ except I plan on sitting around 5-5.5" and running 33s. Sub'd keep up the awesome work man. I will be in Georgia next spring to hopefully get a spot as an extra on the walking dead so will have to go hit up a few trails. Haha

Thank you! I definitely want to do everything right the first time. Even though it may be more expensive at first, it's worth not having to do it over! 5.5" on 33's would be a bit much for my DD, so I'm sticking to around 3" or just under, and I think it'll serve me well. There's quite a few good trails around here!

I'm so anxious to get my Bilstein's on. They're just sitting on my bed at home begging to be installed!

Well, in anticipation of installing the Bilsteins, I went out and spent a few minutes under the Jeep to check the condition of my rear upper shock bolts. Much to my surprise (I hope I don't **** anybody off with this), all 4 bolts came out easily! With that established, I am expecting a relatively easy install for all 4 shocks. I went ahead and cancelled my BPE order, just to save money and see if I really need them. I asked for some OME coils for Christmas, and hopefully I'll be able to get leafs over break as well!

Well, I got home from college for Christmas break today and look what was waiting for me! Shiny new Bilstein 5100's along with some DPG Offroad Swaybar Disconnect cables! Hopefully I'll have more upgrades/projects done by the end of break, but this is what I'm starting with!

I am most likely going to cut the boots off before installation. I'm guessing that can-down is the way to go, huh?

Also, am I supposed to use both of these rubber feet? It doesn't seem like theres going to be a lot of stem left for the nut to go on.

Those are icons, I don't know the value, but the member lowrange2 is looking for a set if you have some.

I wouldn't worry about those rubber things... I also rarely use my sway bar lol... Not a big deal to me. And for the shocks yes mount them can down cause the bar pins are pressed in and you can do anything different lol

Where do you live and go to school?

Well I'm certainly not going to install the shocks without any rubber padding...

I go to school at NGCSU in Dahlonega and live in the Cumming/Alpharetta area.

The stem bushings will flatten and he bigger around when you tighten them, you want them to be just a little wider than the big washer, that's when you know you've got the shocks tightened right.
