Default Montana XJ

So, before this Cherokee I owned a '93 xj sport with a 3 inch lift on 33" super swampers. Unfortunately, just 1 week after I got the brand new tires I totalled my jeep in a 50mph collision that wasn't my fault cause someone ran a stop sign.

Before:

After:

So yeah, the way it happened was an 84 year old guy stopped at a stop sign, looked, then pulled out making a left turn
straight in front of me. I had only about 1 second to hit the brakes but it was raining so they didn't do anything and I hit the 2004 Dodge crew cab at about 45 mph. As a result of this, his insurance has been quite generous as it would be easy to show in court that he shouldn't even have been driving in the first place. I got about 7 grand for the cherokee (wayyy more than it was worth) and then I receive payments every month from his insurance because I am unable to work now. The wreck put me and my girlfriend in the hospital for a day and I have chronic back pain still as a result so I am expecting a big settlement for pain and suffering. Also expecting a bunch more for inconvenience cause they said they'd pay that too.

The wreck happened in September 2010 and by late October I had a new XJ. I bought it in Spokane and then drove it back here (Missoula). Here's the day I got it:

I had been looking at a bunch of fabricated bumpers for a while now and I decided to order a prerunner winch bumper form Nate's 4x4.

The cost of the bumper was:
$320 as pictured ^
+$25 receiver hitch
+$28 3/4" Clevis
+$25 Hardware kit
+$38 XJ 97-01
+light tabs (usually $15 but Nate included them free)
Total: $451
Not a bad price for a full size winch bumper with a gaurd. It arrived after about 3.5 weeks (but it was during the holiday season) and I had it painted and installed a week after that.

Tinted tail lights:

With this and the glasspack it purrs so nice and deep. Doesn't sound anything like the little fart rockets on all those honda civics.

Nice looking ride. I like the way the fender flairs look compared to stock.

Thanks man.

So yesterday my Jeep was driving weird on the way to school, so when I got out of class i took it down to the shop. When we looked under it the cross-member had come loose and my entire engine and tranny were hanging, about to fall out . 3 hrs and $160 later they had tapped out the stripped out bolt points, and put in a u-bolt to hold it up. It worked great and felt perfectly normal, but later last night it pulled through . I was able to drive it to the shop which was only a few blocks away and I parked it there for them to work on after the weekend. I knew that there was a possibility of it coming loose, and what'll probably happen now is I'll just have to get a new cross-member since this one is bent a bunch anyways.

Hanging:

You can see part of the tranny hanging down on top of it^

Thanks^

So everything's fixed now, they fabricated some solid crossmember drop spacers that worked way better. It was also due for a u-joint and when they took the old one out it was the wrong u-joint! They replaced it with a new correct one that fits much better. Unfortunately while my Jeep was parked at the mechanic over night, a snowplow came by throwing up tons of rocks which hit about half my windshield and driver's side window. There's about 10-15 scratches on the wind shield and 5 on the drivers side, and they're all pretty deep into the actual glass. I called the DOT and they're mailing me a form to file with the state to maybe get compensated. Otherwise the Jeep is perfect right now, but I'm thinking about getting some 35" Super Swampers for this summer. Also ordering some new lights soon.

Bought most of them from www.superbrightleds.com but they were out of stock of the Neo wedge lights so I got those from www.autolumination.com

Thanks but that's not actually the case I still have severe back pain from it, Just quit my job earlier today due to it actually. The worst part is the doctors don't know what's causing all the pain And I'm only 17..
