No envy for a rig built with debt!
Plus are rigs are like parking lot twins.

Anyway, I was wasn't nervous at all to cut into my hood. It was about the only body panel I hadn't cut into yet. Plus I had cut open dellstopjeep's hood for his lebaron vents.
As for cutting the Bed quarters, I just cut about 1.5" below that lower body line and bent it level with the ground, not back up. Why would you cut the front of the bed? I honestly think It'll be hard to do, and look decent. Maybe if you could somehow ease the cut from the bottom of the cab to that body line, that might work.
na, we tried friends. I think sharing a common interest is quite enough.Originally Posted by goblazers_6

anyways, I want to cut the front because the truck is getting painted, and the driver's side is dented in on the body line from a tree right under the gas door. much easier to cut out, straighten the sheet metal that's left, and paint it within the next few months.
it won't be just cut and left without metal there...there will be an extension of 2x6 (or whatever fills the gap) between the body line where it will be cut, and the rock rails. there'll also be a cutout in there for a foot step. same on the rear so that it matches the bumper. should look good when I'm done.
thanks for the tip on cutting...I saw that in your thread on CC and was wondering how difficult it really was. didn't imagine it would be too hard.

nah, I have two chiefs laying at my house...they are parts trucks lol. I could fix them, but it would be too much work for a mere "chief" :POriginally Posted by dlundblad

anyways, the negativity is just ongoing from comancheclub....if you knew him, you'd know the sarcasm dripping in his first post. he and I don't see eye to eye on some things but we do share a common interest and I do think his truck is pretty cool.

thats a shame. What color are they?

they are the color of junk. they're no longer true "chiefs" anyways as the factory skids are all off, all bucket seats are out, the butterstoch GAY tan interior is all sold off, and the dana 44's are in different projects or on their way into different projects.
*shrug* I'm not doing one single floor on an MJ/XJ. never again.

yeah ALL chiefs should have factory skid plates on the gas tank, t-case, and front end as well as factory front tow hooks.
bucket seats also should be in most of them, but it was an "option". same goes for roll bars.

It doesnt say anything about skid plates on the factory sticker... It does have the tow hooks, roll bar and it did have a bench seat, but my dad and I put matching buckets in it instead.

someone took them off at some point then. the "chief" package was the off-road trail ready version, and did come with skid plates.
I've had them with multiple skid plates missing, but obviously having been there at one point in time. they were rusty, and the plates had been removed for easier access to mechanical components. the most common to be missing is the front skid plate.
