Mall Crawlin' ZJ build
ok heres my build page sorry for the lack of pics throughout this write up but i didn't remember or think of taking pics through some of the build steps.
also let me just say this build will never be done just like any jeep its a jeep they are never done. (only us jeep guys understand that wish my wife would lol)
ok so i traded my pontiac bonneville for a 94 zj 4.0l all wheel drive
needed a ton of work to be ready for anything. so just like any build the first step was and always should be research hours and days of it. I've done lifts before worked at a mechanic shop for 8years and still am. but i got on the computer and spent about a week researching and still am
heres what it looked like when i got it
so i started the lift and repair process- i did a f<r swap used my buddys xj 3.5inch springs in the front also added 2inch spacers gained a total of 5.5inchs of lift doesn't seem like a lot on a zj the front track bar is a iron rock off road adjustable. the rear has a rough country relocation bracket. the shocks i used are from my buddys 3.5inch set-up from his xj. made some spacers to drop the transfer case 1 1/4inch. changed brakes , all tie rods, wheel bearing, axle shafts front, rebuilt front diff, steering stabizer, used 31s, tune-up, new trans, u-joints all of them, new hitch receiver, iron rock off road lower front control arms stock uppers and stock rears
heres what it looked like when all that was done
next came tinted windows, d-ring hooks- tow hook in front till i build a new bumper, roof rack (homemade), sound system (kenwood head unit, boss 2 way speakers all the way around and 3500watt class d amp and 2 12s) brand new 31s, cb radio, cop monitor, dual batteries, new water pump and alternator, hi lift, more tow straps, cute door thing in rear (pics tomorrow), shovel mounted up top, spare tire up top, trimed up front bumper (just till i make one need some steel), rhino lined the bottom half of truck and under it, 5inch monster tach.
heres the pics i have now ill be posting more tomorrow in the day light when i can take them
the soonest things to come in the new couple weeks are
front sway bar links (they're are none now) wow does it body roll (my dd) high amp alternator(200 amp)
then after those 2 things custom winch stinger front bumper, light bar with more lights. winch. adjustable control arms all 8 if i don't long arm it before that, adjustable rear track bar, back up camera for when I'm in the trails and need to back, some cool tail lights, and then whatever else i can think of after all that I'm sure more things will come
MORE PICS TO COME OF WHAT ELSE IS DONE AS OF NOW

Jeeps looking real good man. You'll get posts today was the first time I ever saw your thread. But how did you deal with the factory amp when you put your sound system in? I got subs an amp and speakers but have no clue how to wire them due to the factory amp. I like how you painted your rims black too, it looks way better than I thought it would so I'm gonna do mine like that soon. Keep us updated can't wait to see more!

Fmxfreak for the system I just ran new speaker wire to every door. So I used none of the factory wiring for the system takes alot of time about 7hours but u get better sound I used 12 gauge speaker wire for the doors. And 8gauge power wire for the speaker wire for the subs much better sound with the thicker wire. But if you didn't wanna do that when u buy the wiring harness to plug in to factory radio plug it should have a wire u give power from the radio to turn on factory amp. I will be posting pics of the bumper I started building today.

here are the pics of my bumper build i started today will also have a thread in the fab section. i had some old trailer hitches off of some cars i worked on also have some 2 1/2''x5'' steel and some other misc. steel laying around i i started cutting. got almost all of it cut and mocked up today gotta cut out for the hitch. as ill be using a hitch mounted which also gotta make the d-ring tabs and the stinger yet hopefully will have it 75% welded by wed. as I'm cutting it and mocking up at home and welding it at work. ill keep posting updates as i move along on it. should take about a week or so to build. only have 2hours a night after work to work on it till i run out of day light and then i have to take it back and forth between home and work(i need to buy a dam welder)

yeah I'm running 3500watt class d amp and 2 3000watt 12s. 16gauge will be good for the door speakers. but do yourself a favor run at least 4gauge for your power and ground no matter what watt setup you have it will be better and if you ever wanna upgrade your subs the correct power and found wires are already there. also for the speaker will for the subs 1250watt or less use no less than 12gauge speaker wire or you really won't get the sound quaility you deserve and also take the subs out of the box and make sure the speaker wire in the box is the same as the speaker wire you run from the amp to the box. and the key to any good system is good power and found wires and also the LESS wire the better. hope that helps you any. if you have any more questions feel free to ask away

so i got some work done on my bumper build today heres the updates. anybody interested i got a page in the fab section for this build. ok. so i cut the hitch part out for my bumper. took the old one off today got the truck ready for the tie in brackets to get welded on got the bumper 60% finished got the stinger made. with any luck i can get tie-in brackets welded to the truck and get the stinger welded on the bumper and have it bolted on by the end of my work day. then all that will be left is plateing the bottom of the corner pieces, d-ring tabs, and the sand, primer, paint, pics. hoping for sunday, monday at the latest to be 100% done.
