Default LG's Black '99 Expedition Build

Starting this build thread to keep track of everything that I do to this (for now) 100% stock 1999 Sport 4x4.

Default Factory cruise added

First upgrade was cruise control. One trip to the JY, $50, about an hour of my time to install, and she was cruising. I now noticed she was idleing way too high when in park.

It turns out the cruise servo cable was keeping the throttle open just a hair. I removed the throttle body for a thourough cleaning and replaced the gasket. Problem solved.

Cruise servo, clock spring, and switches.

Took about an hour to install.

Default Oil Pressure sending unit replaced

My oil gauge all of a sudden went to a 0 pressure reading while I was driving home. Slapped on a mechanical gauge and pressure was fine. Bought a Mopar OPSU from Amazon for $60 and the problem is fixed. Took about 5 mins to install.

The OPSU was leaking through the electrical connection.

Default New stereo head unit

I just installed a JVC marine head unit. I chose a marine unit because I prefer the display it has over this super color disco show that every other HU seems to have now.

JVC marine HU

Out goes the crappy Pioneer CD player that the PO had installed. It was stuck on FM and could only be changed to CD by inserting a disc.

Goodbye 90s Pioneer CD player.

Also my left speakers (both driver side front and rear) didn't work when I bought her.

Upon further investigation, I discovered the infamous broken wire in the driver side door. I patched it up and of course the speaker now works. Now on to the rear.

Since the passenger side rear worked, I plugged it into the driver side and it worked, so that means the speaker is blown.

I picked up some Infinity tweeter trim pieces without the tweeter, so I'm hoping to find a tweeter that fits.

Default Rear speaker upgraded

I replaced both of the rear speakers today since one of them was blown. These Pioneer 6.5" speakers fit perfectly in the rear ceiling without any need to drill holes or modify anything. The Jeep factory grills also fit nicely over them.

Default New black headliner installed

Got rid of the sagging gray headliner and replaced with a flat knit black headliner fabric. Came out pretty good.

I got the fabric from yourautotrim.com. It was about $50 for 4 yards. I removed the old headliner myself, and did the visors. I had a shop glue the fabric to the board for $75, then reinstalled myself.

Default Pin stripe removal process started.

Just began removing the sun-cracked pin stripe. Halfway done with passengers side.

Job done. Also removed the side "4x4" decals and rear "4.0L" decal. Now I'm debating whether to remove the "Cherokee Sport" emblems and rear "Jeep" emblem.

Looks much better without the pinstripe.
