If the 2500 only came with 2.5l and his says 4.0 ho. I was on a web site once were you can purchase the front end to convert our us models over to look like that also the same with tailights. Not saying yours is a fake. But who knows the hatch might be off a 4.0l...... Damn can't find the site but google is loaded with info on china bringing the conversion to the u.s....

Also, on the pre-97 bit. It looks like a pre-97 because essentially it is. The tooling for all Chinese XJ's comes from the earlier pre-97 molds if I remember correctly. Changes have been made from there
